Yes, I have fused lumbar #5 and a herniated disc in my upper back before my neck.

I've given up on running and the gym as a result and returned to cycling.
Ah that's annoying, hope you can run again one day. L5 is my herniated disc and it's really painful sometimes.

Just been on a wet windy test ride on the Allez, It felt strange having such a tight head angle at first, the front wheel right under me, however it handles very well and corners well despite poor road conditions.

No issues with toe overlap.

The frame is surprisingly compliant and I enjoyed riding it.

Sora groupset is the absolute lowest I would ever want to go, it works well, but feels clunky and un refined.

I can relate to that pain.

L4 and L5 are herniated in my spine and have been for 8 years (happened in 2006, but took nearly 2 years to get to actually see a specialist!) and I've just had to have a week off work as it sent my back into spasm for the umpteenth time. Bloody painful :/

My MRI scan from 2008

Got another MRI in March to see what its like now as for the past year I've been having sharp shooting pains in my legs and hips. Hopefully I might get offered a microdiscectomy (if it's bad enough) as I've read it can relieve a lot of the problems I've had to put up with. We'll see, but whatever happens, I will keep riding my bike. That MRI I had in 2008 was partly what prompted me to take up cycling. I was just over 16 stone, the heaviest I've ever been and still a smoker.

@ROB75, feel your pain.
I can't think of much worse than a spinal injury.
Cycling is about all I can do aggressively now sport wise.
I'm very lucky that I was interested in cycling before my injury.

Just keep your legs spinning, great if you can get out and do a few miles.

Been thinking about the Sora groupset.
It's OK.
It's the Sora triple shifters that spoil things.

Tempted to get Tiagra 9 speed double shifters off the bay and I'm happy.

I certainly will keep riding because like you said, riding helps improve your mental state. I absolutely hate it when I can't get out on the bike and also, cycling is pretty much all I can do, except swimming, and I really hate swimming :D

Going to try and get out for a bimble on Sunday. Still a bit sore but has to be done.

On another issue, has anybody got private healthcare with Pru Health? If so have you been able to load activities from a Garmin device to the website? I can't get my 810 to sync properly. Long shot, I know.

Managed to get registered on the website, my god it is awful! Slow to load, things don't work...

Managed to get it to upload all the activities on my garmin 500 though :) Good thing I haven't deleted any of them.

Even rained in Australia today, so no big Saturday ride for me.

Did a quick 20km on the rollers so my legs remember how to ride for racing tomorrow.

The power figures quoted by Elite for their rollers are laughable, I already knew they were wrong, but not by how much! The box/rollers quote approx 375w at 40kmh on resistance level 1. I did an average of 216w at 39.5kmh...

At lower speed, 200w should be about 25kmh according to them. I did 137w average for an average of 26.3kmh....

Might have to put them up to resistance level 2 to get a good degree of variability out of them and see how that goes.

well it's really windy out there.. :) but I need to ride to other side of london to pick my house keys! either take a train(3 changes!!!) or cycle there.. I think I'll just go for it.

With the crosswinds I experienced yesterday, I would not want to be going out if I could avoid it, especially in London! Was being blown a good couple of metres when it was gusty! Stay safe out there!

Pah poofs!

Did 50 miles this morning, great on the way out, ridiculous on the way back!! Glad I put the miles in though. Now to lay on the sofa and do nothing!

Yeah found the same thing with my elite turbo, glad it's not just my turbo not working properly. Trainerroads virtual power puts my FTP at around 370w which is a bit laughable.

Can anyone help me with routing on my Garmin 800. I've been out on a few rides with it and it's faultless if I stay on course, but becomes a PITA if I miss a turn and go off course. Sure I could just backtrack to the turning I missed, but the last couple of times it's been due to road closures or flooding so I can't follow the course even if I wanted to.

I found my way back onto the course a mile or two down the road, but instead of continuing from where I rejoin the course, it keeps trying to point me back to the place where I first deviated off course.

I create my routes on RideWithGPS and download them in GPX form. My Garmin has the OSM street maps loaded on. My settings on the Garmin are:

Routing
Calculate Routes for - BICYCLE
Guidance Method - ON ROAD FOR DISTANCE
Lock on Road - NO
Recalculate - OFF

Course settings
Turn Guidance - ON
Virtual Partner - OFF
Off Course Warnings - ON
Map Display > Course Points - ON

Are any of these settings wrong, or am I using it in the wrong way?

Is this thread the sheltered bywater of the OCUK forums?
I'm starting to think so.

Anti cyclist venom rages in the main forum.
