What film did you watch last night?

The Master, 9/10

Phoenix and Seymour Hoffman were both fantastic, naturally. The story left me a little confused, at times I wasn't sure exactly what the premise of all the controversy and confusion was. Seymour Hoffman's performance was most certainly Oscar worthy, although Christoph Waltz's performance topped even this, hence he won the academy award!

The performances of the key actors and actress definitely carried the film, but I still found it to be plenty enjoyable and I'm glad that I spent the time to watch it. Joaquin Phoenix is quickly becoming one of my favourite actors; absolutely fantastic and it reminded me how fantastic an actor Seymour Hoffman was.

Oh, and the soundtrack was exceptional, and it was odd to see Phoenix working with Amy Adams in a context that wasn't 'Her', but it still worked well, but not quite as good as in 'Her'.

After Earth - pile of steaming dog turd! Dodgy acting, crap story and pretty boring!

2.5/10

What a gorgeous looking film though. All that lovely vibrant lush green, black and wood. The film was so rich throughout the forrest. Felt like you were actually there as it was so clear.

Wolf of Wall Street.

9/10 Best film I've seen in ages... Weighing in at 3h i was a bit hesitant to begin with but wow. What a story, what a life that guy had. DiCaprio is brilliant.

It reminded me a lot of Casino. I think it will do well at the Oscars Best Male lead maybe Picture. Deffo a mans film, lots of T and A and drug binges.

Agreed, also 9/10, brilliant film, loads of the entire cinema bursting out in laughter, great director, flows well, great story and for women naked.

Sound City

Documentary about the Sound City studios that had some of the most influential albums recorded there and its slow demise.
Regardless of whether you like Dave Grohl, Fleetwood Mac or any of the other acts featured that recorded there its hard not to be impressed by the passion they have for music, Dave Grohl in particular. Its a great insight to how these people create music and their dedication, love and belief in it. As Ive just started to learn guitar this was a great time to watch it as it really conveyed the just play from the heart sort of message you sometimes need to hear rather than going for perfection.

Highly recommended for anyone who likes rock or guitar music from the last 50 years or so

Finally got around to watching the wolf of wall street - so much hype and epic reviews I couldnt pass it up, loved it, another top preformance from de cap. And just a great film (was in stiches at so many pointd, far funnier moments than most comedies tbh)

Also watched the Marvel short - All hail the king, enjoyed the short and quite interested in where it can lead :-)

Dallas Buyers Club. 9/10 again...

Watching as many Oscar nominated films as we can this year (GF is a huge film buff, me not so much but its good to be schooled :P)

I had no clue what this was about and when i was told it didn't appeal but again another great film the lead actor, i cant even remember his name, is superb . The story is fascinating and well told. It tails off very slightly towards the end of the film but until the last 10 minutes i was glued to it. Wonder which one she has lined up next! This guy and DiCaprio both could share the Oscar tbh and would be deserved.
