What have you done to your car today?

Bought a new alloy wheel, probably paid over the odds but can never find one wheel that's in good nick.

Can finally replace the damaged one that gives me a flat tyre once a week.

Now with added pic:

Didn't need the replacement wheel after all. Garage checked over wheel but turned out to be issues with valves. Still not 100% sure it's resolved though.

Now stuck with a spare full size wheel.

Not getting on very fast with it at all. Way too many hold ups. :(

Should have known better than to buy a second hand oil pump off eBay, sure enough - out of tolerance. ******** :(
New one of them required then.

Any reasons for the shape of the piston crown there? Never really paid much attention to diesel engines internals..

As for my car - got tyres fitted to new wheels, not fitted them yet, will give it another 3 weeks or so in case we get a late winter cold snap. Think they will look good, and I can't wait to bin off the winters and get some proper grippy tyres back on. Also drilled holes in the rear boot trim and fitted grommets, from Monday the coilovers are going on and these will allow the rear adjuster extensions to pass through so you can adjust the damping without ripping all the boot trim out.

Most direct injection diesels are like that, makes the fuel atomise better, gives you less emissions, makes it quieter mainly

Why put a Type-R H logo on a non Type-R? Just looks silly and lame, unlike the grille which looks good on it.

I did question that on CivInfo before I bought the grill.

How many people (Joe Public) know that a Red "H" means Type R vs how many people just see a Red badge on a Red Car ?

If my car had been green I'd have gone on ebay and got a green badge for it or blue etc.

What I done with mine was remove the badge and buy the "H" from..I think it was an accord actually, filled the holes, then sprayed the backing NHB to match the car and bonded on the new H.

Sounds like more effort than it actually was, but looked excellent.

Tbh I think it looks fine as your car is red, as you say most people don't really have a clue.

Siphoned (yes, siphoned) the water out of the spare wheel well in my girlfriends Aygo. Then went and picked up some bitumen sealant. The car will be tackled on my day off next week as my friend is lending me his garage. I do not hold out much hope though. If the Aygo is anything like the 107 at the rear, it would be better welding some plates over the vent holes.

Get some thick plastic, apply a bead of sealant to one edge of said plastic, remove vent, insert plastic and stick it to the inside of bodywork above the vent, creating a deflector/ barrier
Re-fit the vent. :)

I'm going to do the antenna on the roof and the rear light first since those are the main culprits. But with the amount of water that was in the spare wheel well, I think it's most likely the vents. I mean who thought this was a good design idea.

Visited 3 local exhaust places to get my exhaust fitted but it must be a slow day as they were all closed!

Instead I tried to attack the job myself, but having no ramp or jack for the car made it a tad tricky. I had no power tools with a suitable blade to cut metal so using a hacksaw I managed to cut through the pipe that joins the two silencers together, but the blade is now completely mashed; BMW use some pretty thick pipe work!

So now I have an exhaust which is blowing slightly but actually sounds quite nice. Will have to get it into an exhaust place tomorrow to get the job finished properly :)

Replaced the passenger seatbelt in my wife's commuter (fabia vrs) old one wouldn't retract. £50 for a second hand replacement, rather expensive but the car owes us nothing. Quite a simple job, turn around circa 1 hour. May wash all the cars this pm.

Also check the light seals and the high level/third rear brake light...the seal around this in particular is a laughably crap design. Think I've just about sorted out the leaks on my sisters car now after much faffing about.

Something that has been niggling at me since I bought the car is the front grill, easy enough a change which is why it didn't put me off the car but I've just not bothered getting round to fitting a new grill, until this weekend.

I've not connected the spots up yet as I don't have any H3 bulbs but I decided the car needed the proper 4 light setup and it does look so much better already.
