iRacing

Qualified 4th for the 8:00 GT3 race.

Held my position from the start and probably could've taken third, but 70 minutes is a long time so I reigned in the aggression. Unlike all the drivers around me, lunging from miles back trying to make reckless overtakes. Running wide, kicking up dirt and generally driving like idiots. It all culminated in some **** spinning in front of me and I just couldn't avoid contact and I ended up in the pits for ten minutes.

After leaving the pits my car would pull to the right under braking but was reasonably drivable so I drove to the end and finished 15th. Other than the 4 inc for the contact I only picked up one more inc from 28 laps.

SR gain but IR loss again.

:( Dam I saw you join the race last night I was going to sign up but then saw 70 mins :P I wanted to ease myself back into it I thought GT3 was 30 minutes race.

Anyway ran some laps with a friend whos just got into Iracing. I'm knocking on the door of the 2:05 just not nailed one OPT of 2:05.2*** Seem to be able to turn 2:06's on mid tank of fuel. 2:07's brimmed.

Lama do we need to make a pit stop in a 70 minute race now ? I tried to run a race test but 35 minutes into it my friend decided to use me as the brakes. So lost all data. Also how do the tires last on the new model ? I seemed ok after 30 minutes. Are they like the old model they barley loose grip even after 2 hours on them :D

Imo they really need to do something about the RUF vs the MP4 the RUF is around 2 or so seconds faster at RA as that been the case all season ?

Not very good for a series that's meant to be equal. First Impression of the series anyway.

See thats what scares me to race in the higher classes, its bad enough with the mx5 at times, but i do like bigger faster cars, suits me more if that makes sense - still no where near ready to take any of the rufs into a race yet.

As for the pedals, it looks like my pivot axles for the pedals are loose/sloppy, naff all i can do with it, so contacted thrustmaster again for the 5th time since owning the t500 and th8.

Ghost a few races mate, then just jump in at the deep-end, don't get me wrong iracing as some of the best sim racers out there. But the GT3 class also as a lot of people who cant drive. I'm sure if you did a tester on a ghost session, your be all good.

My best time on Iracing Season one in the Radical about 4 weeks after getting I-racing. I entered with just one main aim not to finish last. Stay out of trouble and your be ok.

@Sasso 1:21 -1:23 is what you should be aiming at. anything below a 1:24 and your be able to compete in the higher splits.

Top Tip treat the brakes like theres an egg under them on the infield section. Its all about using the throttle to steer through that section. If your putting in large inputs specially on the brakes the car will go due to the camber.
I drive that section all on the thottle with the steering just getting very small inputs to balance the car. Again being very gentle and smooth with the loud pedal. PS I hate the track.

yeah did notice literally every time I touched the brakes going towards a corner the car wanted to shake its bootay :p

ahh that's good with the times though, hopefully knock a sec or two off tonight :) and I'll try to get more fluid through that section then :) thanks for the tips :D

and yeah we need to get an OCuk race on the go :D

Apart from slowing down into T1 you should be just covering the brakes to scrub off speed and keep the car balanced in the infield. If you are planting the brakes on or stabbing at the brake or throttle the car will rise and dive all over the place. Keep it as a level as possible...

Once you have got that your be driving T1 - T5 like a boss sliding it through there like an Olympic Ice skater.

The MX5 is whats known as a momentium car. You need to keep the average speed as high as possible that's how u go fast. Out brake yourself into just one bend and your loose 1-2 seconds as the engine is so tiny and the car as all the power of a lawn mower.

Can't see me being able to do 70 minutes without a stop.

I started with 19 gallons, I did three laps before I had contact and had to pit. When I left the pits I had full tanks. My total race distance was 28 laps, but for the last 4 laps I was short shifting, lifting and coasting. I ran out of fuel about 100 metres after the finish line.

The winner completed 33 laps, so I reckon 2 lots of 19 gallons to be super safe.

Just got this game.. Really steep learning curve and definitely need to dig out my wheel and pedals as the xbox controller is a mare.. Tried my first qualifying session in the MX5 and finished last but one! lol. How do I add friends?

Thanks mate I like to run as long as possible into a race on the older tire model. Ill stick 20 gallons in tonight to test. May be wise now with the new one to use the tires better.

A guy I have helped out shed loads over the last few weeks get up to speed on Iracing got me the RUF pack just so ill be testing that out tonight with him.

Got him down into the 2:07's at road america last night in the MP4 hes not even out of rookie yet but I'm getting him up to speed quickly. He really needs to work on being consitant though. Its letting him down.

There are players that use a pad and some very good ones, but the game is most definitely best played with a FFB wheel.

You can search for drivers from the top right hand side of the main page or from your profile page. Once you've found a driver you can send a friend request.

yea I couldn't imagine trying this with a controller... even with my wheel some of the smaller adjustments I want to make are overdone due to dead zones etc, using an analogue stick would be hell :p I'd be weaving all over the place haha! (not to say I don't now ;) )

to add friends, click the "myfriendsonline" tab on the bottom right of the window, then you search for the players real name, click said name. once on the profield there's a "send friend request" link under their avatar pic :)

James Price if you dare to add me ;) haha! always fun to jump on someone and watch their session... though once ya know you're being watched it turns to **** :p

was qualifying on the jefferson and doing alright, then nuts said he was specing me... next corner I got to I went flying off the tracks haha!

edit: damm! beaten to it :p

I did a high 2:08 on lap three last night, so I was already two seconds quicker than the high fuel times I did in testing.

I don't notice much wear with the tyres at all. Someone said that they don't really wear but can overheat and loose grip that way.

Managed 5th out of 12 in my first MX5 race. I was in 3rd for ages but had a bump which made the steering all the hell.. Really enjoying it! :D

Feel free to add me as well: James Cuff

 Got the RUF tonight and love it, Didn't think I would like it and would stick to my beloved MP4. After driving Monday and Wednesday night at Road America in a few practice session, months out, built a quick set I was happy with and was going to try run a race the weekend.

Then I went and got the RUF...Took it easy first night of driving the car. Had a 2:06 I manged in the MP4 Wednesday night to aim at. T5 and T8 was the death of me at first, had a play with the set got something more suited to my driving style.

Started to get Impressed by the NewTireMODV5 :D Straight into the 2:06, few practice sessions in and I smashed the 2:05's I felt like I could go faster so joined another session.

PB 2:04.710 GT3 Road America
Not bad for one night in the RUF

OPT 2:03.8
I recon I could get close, was .8 up on my PB at one point but somebody ran out of talent into T5 and used my backend as the brakes. Pure accident by the guy behind, but I was gutted none the less. Bit more practice and I recon I could run a low 2:04... The amount of times I was up on my PB and binned it makes me sad.

BTW
Nice to see you on Josh have to run some laps next time your on...

Nice time :)

Good to see you as well, hopefully getting more time soon, and getting rid of an annoying illness, so be on a bit more.

My PB was in that session, but only down ~20 laps so far, 2:06.377 iirc on the first lap with a full tank, optimal is in the mid-2:05's I think and I can see that, dunno how much difference the fuel will make for a qually lap.

Doubt it matters anyway, I'm nowhere near being able to do a 70 minute race in these things, I just keep spinning without really knowing why, same thing as the lap before but this time I'm backwards in the barrier ¬_¬
