You're not sorry, so why say you are?

People like you are part of the reason why society isn't a safe place. There have always been those who will jump at a chance to harm others. The excuse varies from time to time and place to place. Witches, communists, paedophiles, whatever. There's always an excuse for the lynch mob mentality. Of course, the victims are almost always innocent but hey, what does that matter? As long as there's an excuse. Any excuse will do, even if it can't possibly be applicable.

Wait what? Where did I say I would harm him? I said I would have probably reacted the same way and I certainly would have. people don't just scream Pedo for no reason and we have got the OP's side of the story (which is conflicting in many posts) and not heard nothing from the girls father.

Don't mistake my defence of my daughters as being a reason to cause harm to someone else. You are entitled to your opinion but having been around pedo's (convicted), I do tend to have a little more caution when it comes to trust.

I would want to hear the Fathers side of the story and I seriously hope the OP does go to the police, as they will have trained officials for these scenario's.

You would have reacted publicly, showing how ignorant you are?

Without knowing what the real facts were, it is something I couldn't answer but if the OP asked my daughter to pop round his house and get the phone later, I would tell him that is seriously inappropriate and I guess I wouldn't be polite in my answer.

It would be good to hear both sides of the story but we know that won't happen.

It's one thing after another with you OP.

"I work in a shop where the boss doesn't pay me"

"I work in a shop and broke a guys sim card and he threatened me"

"I work in a shop and I'm a Peado"

Get another job you ****ing nutjob and stop bothering us with your crap.

:p Thanks mate I needed a good laugh.

SO an update.

The Girls father has sent an email to my Boss at the other shop, Stating he knows i had no ill intentions, He simply didn't agree that i was using the shop as a way to make my own money, Also didn't believe that i had an operation the day before and required home collection, He though it was just a way to keep it away from the shop.
He wasn't happy that i was texting details of the repair to his daughter and though i texted first it was simply to tell her that there was no white screen available. (she gave her number as the point of contact)

He Expected that i would now be an Ex-Employee (Yea right), But is willing to meet myself and my boss at a location specified by my boss.

He says he has done some research into trading standards and because there was no written agreement between myself and his daughter it means that there was no service provided and thus he has no reason to pay for it. (so the ipad was fixed by magic yea?)

So... Seems he simply wanted me to get in trouble and get a free repair.

I have asked my boss to reply with a date and time for next week, and to ask that he brings the ipad for inspection by my boss. If he doesn't play ball i will simply grab the ipad and leave the meeting place with it until he pays for the repair. I have spoken to a solicitor and they have advised that I'm well within my rights to remove the screen i fitted if he is refusing to pay. and that's what i will do if i get my hands on it. :)

So screw all you GD pitchfork holders. :P

You have no rights to steal her ipad back, whether its to reclaim your screen or not.

Meh I might get in trouble, But if push comes to shove that's what will happen. I'm not exactly keeping it. Simply borrowing for 30 mins to remove my screen.

Solicitor said i had a strong case for Slander and unpaid fee. But will cost me £200 to start proceedings -.-

I find it odd that anyone thinks that picking it up from his house is a strange thing. It wasn't a business deal with the shop, he just happened to encounter his customer by unusual means, being at his employer's place of business.

If anything I find it stranger that he was handling devices on his employer's property.

Lastly, if the OP had told the young girl to come alone, I could understand the Dad having a problem. As it is, he was paying so I would think the OP would have expected the Dad to show up with the girl at his place, pay for the repair and for them both to leave with the device.

OP has done nothing wrong, is not naive, was not 'setting himself up' and was not dealt with fairly. OP's customer's Dad was out of order, has committed theft and slander and is rightly going to be reported for it.

+1

Summed up perfectly.

This is where the dad of the girl puts some peado images on the ipad... the OP steals it back, the dad calls the police and the OP gets found with a girls ipad that they can imply he put the peado images on to, and accuse him of grooming the girl.

;)

Advice to OP< I would not take the ipad back.

A contact can be verbal rather than written. The fathers letter sounds like it infers a verbal contact was in place. However the slightly wider problem is whether a minor can enter into a contract. As she was under 16 you may not be able to enforce a contract unless her parents agreed to it?

Yea.. but he called me the night before and agreed to the price and location for collection.
So technically a new contract was made verbally that night.
