Rilot I have on a couple of occasions had the kayfun leak slightly but this is after using one daily since I purchased it in late January. It's easily my daily go to atty, haven't really used anything else since.

If your looking for cheap / good - Literally for the money I could not be any happier with my budget setup, Basically Clearo's are not very good, various issues, not much taste, and they work out MORE expensive than something like a Kayfun clone or dripper as you have to buy new heads all the time... I have a setup which consists of a C9V Micro-D SS dripper, 2 x black EVOD 1000mah, charger, Total cost = £35 inc wire / wick etc. Flavour from a dripper is the same every time and to be honest clearo's are plain bad compared to a dripper for vapour and flavour. Skip the clearos and get what I just said or if you want a tank then get a Kayfun / russian etc. For a small ego sized setup though just buy what I said and thank me later ;)

I put a 1.6-1.8ohm coil with the 3.7v regulated EVOD's and some organic cotton in the dripper, drip about 7 drips and get perfect vapor and flavour EVERY time, good enough vapour production (much more than clearo's, not as good as a big mod) and perfect airflow and flavour every time for £10 delivered. Honestly the quality of flavour and vapour from any clearo is pretty crap really, except for the Aerotank is good but still lacking flavour and has a silica taste from the heads. I find it more convenient to use a dripper than a tank, no messing about refilling, leaking, change flavours whenever you want etc. You just carry a 10ml bottle of juice with you and whup a bit in there when you want it, This little thing is actually better flavour than anything else I have tried because it is small (smaller dripper = more flavour)

I would honestly take all my clothes off and run down the road telling everyone how much I like it and what excellent value for money vapidge has been achieved, but the men with the white coats would take me to the funny farm so I am expressing my feelings towards the device on this forum instead. sorry for the long winded post I just wanted to express how much I like this setup considering the money it cost etc. :D

This^^
I have only ever had 1 leak from my KFL in 6 months, its often stored horizontally as well, but i do use a 50/50 juice mostly, so its quite thick.

I agree, RDA's are perfect for me too,now but a mech mod and a couple of large batteries and you have it all.

Yes it could do with more power for a better hit, also the mech mods look nicer, I will get a mech mod / kick when I have some more cash but until then I like the flavour and consistancy of the micro-d, for flavour I think it is better than anything I have owned probably. Why don't they make more 14xxx size mech mods, 18xxx is good for at home but it is a bit fat and heavy to carry about all day, people might also think that you are overly pleased to see them when you are walking around with a 18650 mech mod in your pocket

Just back from asda, picked up some little angels cotton pleat, by god this stuff is damn thick, going to take a while to work out how much i need, so used to cotton balls - but 2 packs for 2.50 enough to last me till i die i reckon if it tastes better than the wilko's stuff.

Bought a Vamo v5 kit yesterday as an upgrade from my ego-c's. Hopefully I've made a good choice, I bought the Aerotank to go with it. Looking forward to it all arriving and getting set up :)

I got all my three FT orders now, all came within a few days of each other, took 4 to 5 weeks. Got this nifty blowtorch/lighter, adjustable jet throw and a little built in stand as the nozzle does get really hot. It's excellentso far and cost all of 5 dollars! SKU 1134600 if anyone's interested.

Just for the record, I picked up a single bag of the asda pleats and there was no difference in taste to me (when I was able to taste!) to my tesco pleats, it seems to be exactly the same stuff probably bagged by one company for different supermarkets. Still slightly cheaper overall at asda, but at least you know you can pick some up from tesco if you're not near an asda. 87p for 200g.

I have to agree with Nirk - drippers are definately the way forward. I have an incredibly expensive one but is it incredibly expensive better? No it is not.

For the record I have been putting microcoils with cotton in protank heads recently and oh my word its has transformed them - in particular the mini protank.

I will state here with hand on heart that if you put a blindfold on me and then shoved a decent kayfun build on a mech mod in my gob followed by a mini protank with a micro and cotton on an ego battery both with the same ohm coil and the same juice I would probably favour the mini protank (but only just). SHOCK. I would be hard pushed to tell the difference except for the kayfun whistle...

Of course it comes with the disadvantages - like leaking onto the battery and low juice volume and por battery performance and spitting and of course it does not look sexy but really there is not much in it. You can do it for almost no money.

Still, drip drip drip. Theres proper vaping.

I'm wondering what sort of taste you're describing with the Wilko's organic wool. I boil mine three times for 10 minutes in filtered water, changing water in between. How necessary that is, i don't know but i like to err on the side of caution :) That cotton wool is organic but it has been bleached (using non-chlorinated bleach).

There's no discernible taste whatsoever from the cotton that I can detect in protanks/drippers/kf type atties.

As an aside, I've learnt that one of the most important things when handling cotton wick is to make sure your hands are very clean and definitely not sweaty. Cotton doesn't like oils or dirt from the skin and picks them up very easily. Some people will put a tiny bit of juice on their fingers before handling wick which is also OK but things can get a touch slippery :D

I agree the protank heads with cotton are much better, I don't like silica at all, it sort of tastes of plastic / fish to me for some reason, but with the protank heads its very hard to make them so that at the same time they a) have good flavour b) get enough juice c) don't flood or gurgle etc. I don't care HOW good anyone claims to be at making protank heads with cotton, they WILL spend a fair amount of time with 1-3 of those problems happening, too much juice, flooding, not enough, no flavour etc etc. eventually I said forget it and just use a dripper instead. This is probably why pretty much every experienced vaper ends up using either a dripper / kayfun / russian etc. microcoil + cotton... Simple, reliable, tastes best, also you can replace the wick in seconds and the coil will last weeks / months. It is "the obvious choice of the seasoned vaping professional"

Actually I recently put a cotton wick in a nova and it was great. No leaks, great flavour, great tank volume. Easy to rewick too. Just got to hold the wick in place with a toothpick/drillbit while you clip the legs in and you get a straight shot at the coil when you unscrew the tank. Highly recommended. I've been on a dropper for months now and just couldn't go back to tanks though. So easy! So reliable!

Well for weeks ive been struggling to wick my kayfun, i can wick it fine on silica but i cant stand the taste of silica anymore, tastes funky as hell, so the only thing i could think of is the cotton wool causing it, which if i had to describe it would be a harsh overpowering tinge to the juice no matter what you do, and a seriously muted flavour of my favourite juices - never boiled the wilko stuff as our water is pretty hard so wouldnt really be worth it.

So far in the dripper with a quick and dirty coil and wool, which ive stuck way too much in the coil, its smoother, and more flavour right off the bat, so maybe there is something in that wilko stuff my body doesnt like, yet other people might not notice?
Another thing ive noticed as a direct comparison, the asda stuff is soaking the juice up straight away as it touches, but the wilkos one takes a few seconds for it to soak in and also seems to hold more juice as a result - which in turn could also be the issue on a tank system such as the kayfun. Also it pops and crackles more compared to the other.

I dont know in reality, could be a placebo effect or something more, once ive done the kayfun and stuck my favourite juice in ill be able to tell more.

Just make a simple 5 wrap coil of .2 Kanthal around a 2mm drill bit, make sure none of it is touching itself and that it burns evenly from the centre. Get a bit of BOILED, AIR DRIED, ORGANIC cotton wool, roll it into a loose line and it should loosely slide into the coil almost no pressure, once you put some juice on it then it will swell up a bit and work perfectly,

a) BAD COTTON, NOT BOILED, NOT ORGANIC, SILICA = TASTE BAD
b) TOO MUCH COTTON, TOO TIGHT, CHOKE WICK, DRY HITS = TASTE BAD
c) CLEAN ORGANIC COTTON, LOOSELY THROUGH COIL, LESS IS MORE = MMM NICE

Not sure why capitalised that sorry I did not mean to look as if I am shouting it at you, just emphasising :)

Right, just ordered a Kayfun Lite Plus and some more .32 kanthal. I'll raid the mrs' cosmetics for the organic cotton.

Reading these posts is confusing and it seems a like what you guys are doing involves a lot of hassle. Are there no good off the shelf alternatives that I could just buy then just change the tip with new nicotine free flavoured juice?

Cheers for the advice guys, so after watching numerous videos and reading lots of reviews I have decided to upgrade my eGo starter kit to an

iTaste MVP 2, this seems to get great reviews and the battery should last an age (http://myepack.co.uk/itaste-mvp-v2-0.html)

and a Kanger Aerotank (http://myepack.co.uk/aerotank.html) the reason I went for this now is that you can use the air flow control ring on other devices such as the protanks which maybe useful I guess.

Hopefully this will be a good upgrade there is so much out there I didn't really know what to get but these 2 kept popping up in recommendations so fingers crossed.

I just ordered same, been using a old protank 1 and evo twist, but looking forward to something more sophisticated
