Beards

Can't grow a beard myself, my facial hair is rubbish. I am glad I am not hairy, shaving every few days is bad enough, glad I don't have to shave every day. When I do have facial hair I find it annoying and itchy.

I don't follow trends, so many people have beards these days it isn't cool anymore.

I'm sort of growing one now, mostly out of getting irritation when I shave which gives me blemishes. Currently at almost 4 weeks, very Van Dyke, but cheeks and sides are weak. Keep the neck shaved as it's awful!

Been shaving since I was about 14, the longest I ever managed to grow it for was about 4 weeks whilst I was hiking in India, the best feeling ever was shaving it off :P Although I did rather enjoy the image of being beardy.

I can only shave once a week really. Otherwise, my skin, gets rashes, spots, cuts and in the past dry skin.

I have my shaving routine down now, but it does mean I shave just once a week 99% of the time.

This means I look like I tramp towards the end of the week as the stubble grows. Shame really that breads don’t suite me, as that would be the best option... :o

Have you tried shaving with a safety razor? My skin looks a lot better since using one, especially the lower neck where I used to get some spots and ingrowing hairs.

I don’t think I've tried a safety razer, but I once bought a merkur (which I think is similar) and well I tried it once, but it wasn’t easy to use and I just cut my self to pieces.

I get a good shave the way I do it, I just cant do it more than once a week.

Where did I go wrong?

The problem with growing one is when it comes to shaving it off, you go from rugged manlyness to school boy in seconds.

I have done it once, never again. The beard stays.

One of many unwritten beard rules: When two beards meet in a corridor the shorter beard must yield to the longer beard.

That rule sucks, the beard that takes the most balls to take out in public gets right of way. long "normal" beard would lose to stubble + handle bar moustache for instance.

Mutton chops + hitler tache, flawless victory :p

Not been a fan of shaving for a long time (just can't be arsed tbh) and have had periods of not shaving for 4/5 weeks at a time, but since about November I have let it all hang out.

It wasn't a popular decision at first but the other half has grown to accept it and obviously my male friends love it :p

Work don't mind as i'm hid away in I.T!

My hair needs cutting. I look like a tramp. So I thought I would just try a beard to complete the picture. I wanted to see how much of it goes grey. It's not uniformly grey yet but there is certainly some there. And yet my moustache is a doesn't-match-elsewhere ginger. I was hoping for the Father Christmas look as I have the belly in place. It will all have to go though.

Ahhh you have a case of "the fishfinger" going on :p

I had mine for 5 weeks and tried to trim it earlier, looks a big patch out of one side so the lot has gone :(

I feel naked (and cold)
