Powerful Cooling

Yeah its always annoyed me the difference in core temps under load. At idle or under gaming load they're much closer.

Temps

As i predicted, quieter and cooler. It may not look as pretty as the H100i did but it sure performs better. Now the question is what will this do to my gpu temps. The H100i helped the gpu temps i think.

Nice temp drop mate, gotta say i think it looks nice in your case. Id be very surprised if your gpu temps are affected at all seeing as your running reference blower cards. Wont be as much hot air rising from them.

Yeah im happy with it so far. Think this cooler and colour would suit your case even more. ;)

Agree with Setter you shouldn't have a problem and nice drop in temps there. A proper air cooler beats those AOI.

Probably would but it might block my top gpu slot as it looks quite wide. For colour scheme ive just put red rings on all the corsair fans in the case.

accelero iv
:p

EDIT: id be interested what temps you get at 4.5ghz,maximum ibt stress 5 runs

lapping the cpu might even out the core temps

Its all gone to crap. I thought temps were good, no they're terrible. Worse than the H100i. I've reseated the cooler 5 times, tightened every screw, nut and bolt as tight as it will go. It feels firmly attached, but i guess contact between the cooler/my cpu is poor. Temps rise to 95c quickly under stress testing. Urgh. WHen i checked the paste it looks like most of it gets pushed to the edges of each side of the cpu with no much in the middle. The same always happened to my H100i, but it did a better job with it, it seems. I've had a phanteks before, so i know im installing it correctly. For whatever reason, it just not work properly for me this time. Same cpu as when i had it last as well, different mobo though.

I give up. Spent hours messing with it. Shame as my old Phanteks worked up. Going to DSR it.

Looks like im going back to AIO again, groan.

Shame, lapping is an option if you don't mind loosing the warranty. Are your gaming temps any worse compared to the clc unit?

Not tried as my monitor psu died so im awaiting a replacement so gaming is not much an option on this screen. I think it does indeed need lapping. I think my cpu is uneven, just my luck. I think im going to order a H110 after looking at this chart. Seems to be quiet and one of the best, up there with the Noctua tower cooler.

The Kraken looks good, but it is much louder and more expensive for only 2 c difference.

cpu must be concave if its pushing paste to the edges? that of the bottom of the phanteks is convex?

One of them is. Pretty sure its my cpu as something similar happened with the paste on my H100i. Luckily though the H100i still performed fairly well. :(

Liquid metal paste would drop 4-5c from my experience with it compared to top end conventional pastes.

do you have to heat them up to cure them? I remember the indigo pads

im only hitting 70c max ibt stress with d14 cooler 4.5ghz and 1.344v
