Guys don't hate me for this!

I think consoles are more likely to not last as long, they are more prone to overheating and there is less you can do to maintain/prevent failure, there is a large range of aftermarket cooling and watercooling for better results

In short: A well maintained PC should theoretically last 10 years+

Apart from the most recent gen I'd tend to disagree with you, had 2 bombproof gamecubes and an Xbox. Mega drive/n64 that works fine 15 years on etc.

Everything will break at some point however a pc can't be fixed by a 70quid surcharge on your warranty over 1 year :p

Nope, most of my PC will be replaced for free if it fails at any point in the next 3/5 years.

Only because you are sat further away (as they are normally on your tv).

last generations console games looked awful up close.

Generally speaking, not as bad as a PC game at lower resolutions. By default, most PCs just rely on the monitor's built-in rescaling algorithm. Generally, this tends to be completely shocking. Consoles tend to implement much more sophisticated upscaling algorithms by default, and output video at the monitor's resolution so the monitor doesn't have to rescale it at all.

XBOX ONE - £350
PS4 - £350
PC - £350

you guys are saying a PC is better than a console

ah, you mean a PC costing double/triple the amount....yeah, my dads '14 plate Audi is better than my ten year old mondeo

You're overlooking an important part of the overall cost. The cost of playing games is the cost of the hardware plus the cost of the games. The amount of time for which you play a game is also a factor in overall cost, since it affects the number of games you buy.

Yes, a much better PC will cost double the price of a console. That's inevitable, as consoles are sold at cost or at a loss. Which is why console games are more expensive - the console manufacturers have to make profit on the software because they don't make it on the hardware. So you spend a lot more up front for a PC, but you get a lot more for your money and you spend less per game. You often also get lots of free extra content made by other players, which makes the games even better value.

So a PC gives you more powerful hardware, more storage space, more control, more choice in a multitude of things from resolution to input devices, more content in games and is cheaper if you play enough games.

A console gives you adequate gaming with a lower upfront cost and more convenience by not allowing you anywhere near as much choice.

There are reasons to go either way, but it's simply not true that gaming is more expensive on PC than on consoles. It is if you rarely buy a game. It's cheaper if you buy a lot of games.

Whoosh

I'd rather have multiple launchers than one really **** one like consoles do (swapping disks), disks are bad DRM. I don't use windows 8, nor can I remember the last time I had to manually install a driver. And teamspeak carries across all services. You seem very misinformed.

You do know you can buy games digitally on consoles as well?

With next gen you can have an initial download of multi or single player and start the game as the rest of the game is downloading.

I guess you've never had exotic PC hardware then, there have been quite a few games I've not been able to play at full potential because they either didn't have a crossfire profile or they were just simply broken and you had to wait for AMD to bring a new driver out.

I know you can use other applications to do things you can do on consoles but it's just applications on top of applications on top of applications just to emulate a similar experience.

I never said consoles were flat out better than PCs as the PC has the power and flexibility to do everything the console does. I just said that the unified experience on a console is superior to that of a PC

This thread will go on for ever. Basically its a matter of personal preference and money.

I spend the money on my PC and love it, I have a lot of friends who own gaming rigs, I go to major lan events.

For me I have very little mates with all the same console, the main TV is hogged by the misses, feels less exclusive and is getting more expensive (Monthly subscription and cost of games).

Thats my opinoin and im sure lots of you have different ones.
