The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

So you guys are not big fans of the Peak Designs straps then? I like, and use the wrist one a fair bit, but it can become a bit annoying. I don't think I've ever used the sling one mind.

I've got the Peak Design Cuff and now I've used one I'm not sure I could go back it's just so convenient to attach and remove.

The strap does look a little on the thin side, but you have to remember it's the same material as a seat belt, so quite durable.

My one gripe with the cuff is it could be a little longer, but other then that it does the job and does it well.

I spoke to them a few weeks back and they're currently designing/testing standard camera strap adapters, looking forward to these :)

Any my last new toy for a while.. and again, I'm too impatient to wait for it to turn up, so not my photo :p

Treated myself to a new lenses, a 35mm 1.8g DX, first impressions are good, its defiantly a step up from the kit lenses

You'll enjoy that bobcat, just don't be surprised when you go back to using non primes when you're left a little annoyed that everything else isn't as sharp!

is that Holistech maintenance software running in the background??

No Cacti and a proprietary CRM.

No good for anything with substantial weight. The sling was okay when I had a 550D with a light lens but anything heavier is uncomfortable.

Camera specific books are a waste of time, better off buying something like Understanding Exposure. The manual can tell you how to operate whatever functions the camera has.

My 1100d and kit lens showed up plus the additional and 55-250mm I ordered:D

I have a lot to learn, so thinking of purchasing this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=455344027&pf_rd_i=468294 - Though open to suggestions on other books to read.

If, by "a lot to learn", you mean about photography generally rather than the camera specifically, then "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson is one of the most recommended books for beginners :)

Lee Filters foundation kit, adapter ring, 3x ND grad soft (1, 2 and 3 stops so a range of 1-6 stops when combined) and a Little Stopper (6 stop full ND) on the way ahead of our annual trip to Mull first week of June.

i dont see your new 50 their on that pic full of lenses? Or are you using a canon lens cap on it? lol

I did! First thing I done to it.

Mainly being I prefer the Canon rear caps, this way it matches all others so when changing lenses in a hurry I don't care what is what. The front cap is just to complete the mod :p

Also put on b+W filter.

B+W filter saved the front element of my 17-40 and I replaced it with a Hoya Pro D, wish I'd gotten another B+W though, no difference optically but the frame is thinner so causes less vignette on that lens as well as the Sigma 35mm. Not a huge issue as that's fixed in post in seconds I guess.

I bought a new and awesome lowepro 22L hatchback for my week in Florence next week, no picures of I though :p
