Had about 160k from since I last played. Is gold actually used for anything now?

If I get items that are of no use to me am I better salvaging them and crafting rather than vending them?

Cheers

You need a LOT of gold to make the top gems.

Salvage stuff 61+ til you have several thousand materials, then start vendoring. Always salvage useless legendaries.

Sub 61, just vendor anything you won't use.

Which is more viable in the expansion? A barb or a demon hunter?

Thinking of just continuing with either my level 60 barb or demon hunter but can't quite decide!

Both are viable, if you start pushing the higher torments then Barb is much more versatile.

I think I will settle for my Barb, however continuing him from 60 is going to be a learning curve because I had no idea what spec to take him and don't really know what type of gear I should be equipping for him now.

I've been looking at Noxxic.com which lists various leveling builds (revenge, hammer, earthquake, whirlwind.) Not really sure which one to go for!

Considering this:

Drops, crafting, gambling and caches.

Auction houses were both removed.

Sorry if I'm being dumb but drops and crafting I get but what do you mean by gambling and caches??

I'm on level 65 and have just done the act 1 and 2 "missions" on expert difficulty but don't really know where I'm going from here!

Caches you get from completing bounties in the Adventure mode games, at the end of each act worth of bounties you get a cache which you can open that contains items/gems etc. List of what act caches drop what is here:

Most popular one is probably the Royal Ring of Grandeur which drops primarily from Act 1.

Gambling refers to trading bloodshards for mystery items from Kadala (vendor in town). You get bloodshards by completing rifts in Adventure mode, the rift boss always drops some, at least on torment 1 + I am not sure on lower difficulties.

I don't know why it's called gambling really, as you can only hold so many bloodshards it's more like spending shards on the chance of getting a legendary item.

So generally speaking you want to complete bounties to get specific legendary items, and rift keys. Rifts then to get shards for gambling.

My very simple technique for rares is to salvage anything that sells for less than 4k and vendor everything worth more than 4k. Takes an extra few seconds per full bag of loot, but the extra gold adds up.

I'm deciding which class to start out with again....

Seems to be a choice between Wizard and WD.... Crusader looks interesting as well though.

I want something that's going to be viable end game and not to difficult to play.

Does this happen on every difficulty? I've completed the bounties for acts 1 and 2 on expert and while I've collected drops from the bosses etc and opened any chests, I've not noticed any "caches" - although I did get an item which I'll be honest, I didn't pay too much attention to and just shoved them both in my stash! If this is it, how do you open/use them??

Eulogy / Fibby - any idea if it makes a difference what character you use to identify a legendary item

What i mean is I had an unidentified Maximus 2H weapon and made the mistake of Id-ing with my WD.

My question is, ideally wanted the stats to roll for a STR so that either my barb or crusader could use it. If i left the unidenfified item and switched it to either my barb/cru and used them to identify would it have made a difference?

I hope the answer is no because i not only did this for 1 maxmius but 2 :( and both ended up rolling intellgience :( without sockets

Character that dropped the item determines the rolls. Think of the ID process as removing the wrapping paper from a present, the contents are fixed you just dont know what they are yet.

I've been hearing of some people leveling from 1 to 70 in a matter of 45 mins. How is this possible?

You make a game on torment 6 as a level 1 on adventure mode (you need to have a level 70 on your account first), you get some lvl 70 friends to run bounties, the better gear they have the faster it is because when you get to level 63-64 you have to turn the level setting down because they cant kill the mobs fast enough for it to be efficient.
