Update on broken seal 780ti's

Dodging what? Sorry but I live a busy lifestyle and have other priorities to attend to first and foremost. I didn't post here hoping to get freebies (far from that), I only posted as I wanted to share my experience with other members including the OP.

As for others who said I am BSing, well I've just supplied my order numbers from which RMAs are attached. You should invest in new meters.

Sorry mate. My post was made in jest, hence the :D at the end. No offence meant. A lot of people just find it hard to believe what happened too you. Stranger things have happened though.

Had the same thing happen recently with OCUK. They swore blind that the card hadn't left the warehouse but it had clearly been opened and used. OCUK took the card back but was a waste of my time

It's not just 780 Ti's, I got my 290X Matrix yesterday and the seal was broken on that too, Sticky tab was peeled back and the back plate had finger prints all over it plus the PCI-E protective strip was remove and just dumped in the box.

I think OCUK are starting to slip, This is the 2nd time within months that I've gotten a GPU in this condition, I will not be buying GPU's from them again for the foreseeable future.

IMy card hadobviously been used as there was dust in the cooler. During my chat with OCUK CS I suggested that it been tested for something. Not acceptable to spend £300 on used products

Ocuk CS is great, but this adds weight to the rumour to them binning cards/CPUs for their overlooked systems

Me and a work mate both ordered 290X matrix cards, Both of them had peeled back seals and shows signs of being used beforehand i.e finger prints on the backplates.

Mine clocks just about to 1200 on the core and 6600 on the memory but my work mates 290X doesn't even clock to 1100, 1070 if he's lucky.
These are obviously being tested and the best ones being kept for systems.
Quite a shady practice considering the money we are spending on these things.

I know how you feel my 290X Matrix also had dust in the cooler, Considering getting a refund and taking my money elsewhere, Shouldn't have to put up with this type of behavior.

I think we all knew what was going on but it takes a case like this where we can all bring our expierence together.

OCUK CS was great in comparison to other retailers 10 years ago but CS has moved on. I have been sent replacement items by one retailer without sending my item back first, they just use your CC as insurance. RMA with OCUK can take weeks and they often do their best to pass the buck. Just my 2c

I'm just really disheartened, I spent £539.99 on a card that was already opened and from what I could tell by the dust on the cooler, The removal of the PCI-E protection strip and the finger prints on the back plate, It was used.

Quite pi***d off to be honest.

I was lucky that I got a free return and a refund. During the process they offered me some 3 year old games which hinted that they knew the card was used before selling it. Such a shame that trust is easily eroded with shady tactics

I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not as my newly delivered 29" monitor from OC came from a box not sealed, but had a huge big strip of a "SWAPIT" DPD tape on the bottom of the box.
The packaging inside looked to have been tampered with and the monitor had superficial marks, which cleaned up. Two screws were missing but LG are sending me those (OC said they could not help with that) - to connect the stand to the monitor.
Posting this in the CS section I have been told that the monitors were "brand spanking new" and posted directly from the manufacturer.

If items are sent direct from the manufacturer as above then OC should be aware of how mine has been delivered.

The monitor seems to work fine it can be off putting to receive goods like that.

Another case of an item being sold as new but arriving in a used state with an explanation that this item was new when we sent it. Mounting evidence!

Doesn't hint anything, that's just better CS.
From your posts however you still seem to have a problem, fueling the fire with your unfounded views (binning being the reason for opened packages)

I think you will find i have been very careful not to make a single accusation for the very reason that the evidence is not 100% even though a significant number of cases have been reported in this thread.

Do other retailers offer you free stuff if an item doesn't meet your expectations... No they just you a returns label and ask you which day you want the item picked up.

My 290X runs everything I need it to, Games maxed etc...., Overclocks nicely, Cleaned the cooler and finger prints off, No point in sending it back but I just wish that when I spend £540 that the card would come factory sealed and not played around with by someone either at the retailer or elsewhere, My only gripe.

Glad you had no issues pal. Disappointing to hear your card had also been opened. What's going on at ocuk these days?

My cheap ass VTX 290 reference cards were unopened, but i guess thats no surprise lol.

I have no idea what's going on at OCUK? Ive had a few opened GPU's and had enough. I buy my GPU's elsewhere now and the last 3 GPU's have been sealed. It seems to be a big problem at OCUK.

curious to see how this pans out, seems to be quite a few people getting what seems like preowned gpus recently

I made the same choice after my experience with the GPU though i have bought other items since from ocuk, just ones that i considered 'safe' e.g. my shiny new laptop
