Update on broken seal 780ti's

How many of the people that bought cards post on the forums though? The fact that there is complaints about opened packages shows there is something going on mate. I don't know what, but they are being opened for some reason

People are more inclined to speak out if somethings wrong rather than right, how many people who buy cards post of these forums? Hundreds/thousands.

I've bought a good number of cards from OCUK, never had a problem.

If you bought a car that was advertized as new and later you found out it was pre-owned but got charged the "new" price, Wouldn't you be annoyed ?

Silly comparison lol.
Saying that, have you honestly moaned when your car/bike has miles on the clock from new? All my bikes i've bought have had miles on the clock from new.

I doubt it's even hundreds.

Dicehunter has a point. I've complained about this on the forums too and people thought I was crazy. I said fine.....I put a end to it. I stopped buying from here and the funny part is all my problems went away once I bought GPU's elsewhere. funny how that works.

Not a silly comparison at all, Maybe if the parts we got were free then yes it would be silly but these parts we buy all cost a lot of money.

And the last bike I bought had 2 miles on the clock why ? Because i rode it around for 2 miles before I bought it.

Oh no now your speaking out against a SHOP and telling the truth, What is the world coming to lol ;)

The secret is to vote with your feet and make sure people understand the risk of buying new GPUs which could be used.

To be fair, that's just a coincidence likewise you getting opened packages from OCUK is just a coincidence. Whatever the reason, they've lost your custom. So their losing.

Opening, using and then selling as new is illegal. That should give you enough confidence that you're buying a new card, not that their binning cards/CPUs/whatever for their systems and letting customers get the dogs (not you saying that, Dice implying/failing to realise he's paying the lottery)

How the hell am I playing the lottery ? The card I got performs superbly and my only gripe is that it was opened before it got to me by someone at OCUK as have a few other cards I've bought from OCUK.

Why are you defending a company that doesn't care about you ? Doesn't even know you exist apart from maybe 1 or 2 forum admins and a few purchases which aren't exactly important in the grand scheme of things.

You think a multi million pound company would defend you ? or speak up for you on forums ? No they wouldn't, Because to them you are just a walking talking £.

It seems to only be GPU's though? I buy other stuff here and don't have a issue. I have a big order I just purchased yesterday from here....I'm sure all the good will be fine, but if it was a GPU I bought too, I would be worried right now before it even came. I would be thinking the whole weekend...Is the GPU box opened??????? The GPU open box at OCUK is a big problem. That's something I shouldn't have to worry about when buying anything from anyone.

Every card I've ever bought apart from 1 which was a 4850 had the box opened and the little sticky label peeled back which is sealed before they leave the factory meaning an e-tailer who is very well known to bin GPU's is doing this.

I bought a 7950 waterblock last year that was opened and covered in fingerprints... Nothing got done about it but then they had no more in stock so I'm not sure what I expected.

Not really good enough though...

I don't actually care about the company, weirdly enough. To me their a shop that gives me free postage, offers decent enough deals (sometimes cheaper elsewhere) and if something goes wrong has a forum ~(a subsection) where i can voice my complaints to get it fixed.

You seemed that have gone all emotional because my opinion differs from yours, for that i'm sorry :)

As for the lottery, my mistake, was your work mates :p

Mine clocks just about to 1200 on the core and 6600 on the memory but my work mates 290X doesn't even clock to 1100, 1070 if he's lucky.
These are obviously being tested and the best ones being kept for systems.

Far from emotional bud, It just came across that you were defending a company that is known to do this opening of boxes business and then selling as new, Which defending any company should be a big no no.
They are here to supply a service and if said service is sub par we should voice our concerns and not start defending them.

As I said above, They would not do it for you, You are a walking talking £ to them, That is all.

Ive have had things without security seals before, but the actual product hasn't been taken out (have you tried to get an antistatic bag exactly the way it was without making massive creases) I messaged one of the lads on fb and he explained it might have been opened to check contents, put in a revised leaflet or something along those lines.

Didn't bother me in the slightest.

I am quite disheartened by what I'm reading in terms of several reports of opened cards sold as "new". Like I said several posts ago, what we would like to see is the results of any internal investigation as to why this is happening as it does not seem at all isolated.

I had hoped a don would come along to issue the results of any investigation and also share OCUK's next steps in terms of preventing this happening in future. If it was my business, that is the first thing I would do. Really thinking twice about buying any more components from here until things are clarified and I'd consider myself a fairly good OCUK customer over the last couple of years.

So would you be happy receiving what would appear to be a used card? Yes like you say, it is illegal to use the card before selling it, so why the hell are they opening the package up in the first place? Stinks to the high heavens

Actually Tonester it was you that took exception to others problems and started blaming us for creating a nothing problem. You obviously have nothing constructive to add to the thread so jog on!

They are doing it because they are getting away with it, No one is doing anything about it.

And the moment someone from overclockers says "oh we're not doing anything it must be you" people start to go silent which confuses me, They are only people working at a shop, Hardly something special.

No offense meant to the staff of OCUK but it's just a shop with a forum, Hardly the red cross saving peoples lives by giving out free food and shelter :p
