WWDC 2014

Apple haven't dropped a bombshell at this WWDC, they've flown in a fully-loaded B-52

I may be really off but it seems very Google esque. All of the most exciting features rely on third parties to produce the magic (which is obvious as it is a developer conference) but for the first time developers have deep access to apple's products. It is a Google esque collaborative approach rather than an apple-esque walled garden approach

Cannot wait to see what Google bring to the table with Android 5 though. Considering there hasn't been much front end change for nearly three years it could be quite huge.

I for one am just happy the market keeps driving forward. Whatever phone I get next will be mind blowing.

So is Swift going to be the next big thing for aspiring developers to learn? I guess if you know Swift you're going to be highly desirable.

But can you do everything in Swift without having to use Objective C? I think that was the impression.

One could say "They're a SWIFT developer" :o:D
(yeeeaaaaaahhh *dons sunglasses*)

I'm not a dev but I am really excited to see what devs do with the new APIs
There are some really great opportunities which iOS has been missing for a long time for developers to really integrate their apps into iOS and improve upon what apple do
Things like APIs for photos so devs can integrate new editing features and safari extensions will be great for users

This WILL bring even hardcore android users to iOS and is a brilliant move from apple

Apple have had to add features and accessibility to match Android. Google should really work on polish and consistency across the android ecosystem. Less dodgy apps and bloat phones from developers, more nexus like devices.

im a dev :P

I think they've displayed several levels of really well thought out systems that just make the apple eco system too much to ignore. Absolutely fantastic work from them. Just goes to show how much work they have been doing for so many years leading up to this point.

Just wish they'd accept defeat on the app icons though. Safari is so poor its truly disgusting.

I'd learn both. They can co-exist within the same source file, similar to Objective-C++ and C already can.

Really? Knowing Apple they will be ditching Objective C completely within three years. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the first step in moving to ARM CPUs. (Well, that's an educated guess on my behalf but it could be true with A8/A9 CPUs, Metal coding and whathaveyou.)
