Wasn't too impressed with the episode, way too much left hanging considering how long we'll need to wait for the next series. Enjoyed Aya and Jon Sneurgh's stories though and especially Tyrion doing this:

Don't think it's already been posted but most of you should enjoy this:

and for me there isn't enough action,

That's why it's the best. The reason ASoIaF is so mucher better than most Fantasy is not the fights, or the magic, or the dragons. Or even the b00bs, for those watching the TV version. It's the people. And AFfC is all about people, and what war does to them. It's also the one that seems to come from deepest in Martin's heart. I'd say that the only miss-step was turning Cersei into a PoV. It doesn't humanise her; it just makes her even more annoying.

I shall be having a GOT fest soon. Have held out till the end of the series to start watching. Hate waiting a week between shows.

Loved the end of series but as i've read all the books and currently reading the tales of the seven kingdoms me and my fiancee do sit there going WTF at the changes. Just a shame some characters are missing still. Would have loved to see the fight against the champion of meeren with the character it should have been.

Yeah, I was disappointed that Belwas wasn't there.

I thought she was quite well handled. She's clearly teetering on the very brink of sanity at the start of her POV and falls further down the wrong side of that particular slope every time it cuts back to her.

I agree, but I think there is a bit too little going on. Overall, it is probably the best to read, and I definitely think the best written as I said, but I think I would struggle to describe the plot tbh. Plus it is missing a few of my favourite characters.

I certainly agree with that, though it did make me enjoy certain parts more :)

Yeah, we would miss out on some very nice scenes;)

But if you take 4 and 5 in tandem then it's a very detailed plot driven story. I'm concerned Bran's story line already takes us right up to the end o the books.

Is there an ETD on book 6?

Removing Bran for a couple of series would have advantages. The main one being: we don't have to worry about the actor ageing faster than the series. The TV has not been clear, but a bit over two years has passed between the start of series one and the end of series four. But four years of RL have passed. My suspicion is that any future appearances by Bran will be largely dreams and/or warging, meaning that the age of the actor is less obvious. More interestingly, getting him to the tree so quickly means that a new character from the books has not appeared - one who was a great mystery to readers (no, it can't be choice number one because Bran would recognise him).

What happened to Coldhands? Wasn't he suposed to be in the story by Crasters Keep where Bran & co see Sam and make him promise not to tell Jon?

don't reckon that's the last of the wall - we've got Jon Snow riding off to find Mance now....

Also wasn't Stannis supposed to be heading to the wall a few episodes ago - yet has seemingly made no attempt to go there yet.... Melisandre vs some white walkers could be interesting - though presumably that sort of thing could be next season as I guess the Nights Watch is going to be too preoccupied with the whole wildling invasion still

Still frustrating to have to wait another week to find out whats happened re: the mountain, Tyrion etc...

While obviously its game of thrones and anything can happen I really hope they don't execute Tyrion or something happens at the last minute like the mountain (if not dead) dies from his wounds. If not then presumably Jamie will have a go at helping him escape or something.

I'd guess they've also got to go back to other storylines too... Presumably Bran Stark and his chums find whatever they've gone searching for.

Possibly another Bolton storyline then again what else is there for them to do in the North aside from fight some more Ironborn - maybe Greyjoy snaps out of this 'Reek' thing and kills Ramsay or perhaps they stumble upon Rickon Stark... tbh.. I'm not sure if they will make an appearance.

I reckon there does have to be something re: Brienne & Pod - presumably she finds one of the Stark girls at last.... though not sure how well this could go down as it would lead to a confrontation with either Little Finger getting rid of her someway or a fight with the hound....

LOL it is funny reading back through the comments after the last episode. Much spoiler here ;) sad.

I've started reading the books but I don't really want to get ahead of the TV series. I'm half way through book two at the moment, is there a specific point somewhere I should stop reading?

You can safety read to the end of book 3 if I recall. Just do NOT READ THE EPILOG!

Some of the series is already into book 4.

ps: Some of the more recent events are better done in the book IMHO, so enjoy!

coldhands should have appeared a long time ago, but didn't so I don't see much use in him appearing now.

My view is that it would have just been too confusing for the TV people to follow, as its not exactly easy to explain what he is doing
