I don't think there's anything to "get". If you like it you like it, if you don't then that's fine too. There's no right or wrong with art - it's whatever makes you feel like you like it.
Personally it's not my cup of tea, and I wouldn't spend my money on it, but I can understand why some people get excited about things like this - I never thought much about the Mona Lisa until I saw it in person, and it really is quite remarkable considering when it was painted, but also it becomes cherished and a "classic" as a result.
Yeah, but the difference between the stuff posted in the OP and pictures like the Mona Lisa, is that the Mona Lisa actually looks like something - it's a very accurate picture of a person created in a time long before cameras, painstakingly created by someone over a long period of time. Something which we take for granted these days when we can pull a phone out of our pocket and take a photo in 5 seconds.
What's really sad is that the people with real talent who actually paint accurate portraits seem to get paid a fraction of what some of these blobs of paint that look like they were made in 10 minutes get sold for.

The kind of people who like/buy this infuriate me.
There, I said it.
In fairness a lot of my posts infuriate you. The tolerance level is hardly that high.![]()
Art is basically just what other people deem to be popular, even if it (in the cases above) is complete and utter tripe.
Picture it like flappy bird; hardly a masterpiece of development in any way, but it got popular, so was worth a lot of money. Most art is the same principal.

Adorable. Theo has an friend
Art is an abstract representation that causes a burst of emotions while flappy bird is a popular meme so your comparison is quite poor. It's not about rich people with too much money either (hint: even if those rich people don't understand some pieces of art, they didn't get rich by spending money on trash).
These paintings may not have an emotional effect on you but they do on many other people. Add the fact that the author is dead which means his unique style is lost forever and you get to those prices.

Or it could be talentless pretentious hipsters who like to get together to talk rubbish about the paint someone has just thrown at a canvass because it is 'retro' or 'new age chique' or whatever buzzwords the so called fashionistas are using these days.
Just saying![]()
