It's more proof he will never change. Barca would be stupid to buy him but Barca have never shown an awful lot of integrity or sense... just look at the Neymar deal that will potentially cost the club 150mil after being fined for evading the tax on the deal.

Which is entirely my point.

That if Barca want him, they will go for him regardless of what issues he has. This ban only becomes relevant if its a HUGELY lengthy ban.

Please don't pay £40m for Shaw. I thought £27m was a bit over the odds, clearly there's something in the water down in Southampton.

Perhaps that is Koeman's plan? If you're going to buy him I want a hell of a lot of money. Crazy money. If you're not willing to pay the price I will keep him. He will likely be a regular England international from now on, possibly even first choice left beck so isn't going to get any cheaper.

Toure has spoke why he was deciding whether to leave City and can't blame him pretty disgusting by City

Any respected journalist has come out and said that is not how the club works at all and can you really see the club denying him the chance to stay at home with his brother? What does the club have to gain from doing that?

One journalist even said that some of Toure's family has contacted the club to give thanks for their support throughout the whole time.
In the past we have given compassionate leave for Zaba, Adebayor, Mancini and Pellegrini. No issue at all.
Besides, after we played in Abu Dhabi he flew onto Qatar and was having "treatment" and was pictured holding an eagle on his arm!
Clearly not in that much of a rush to get back to be with his family. Perhaps he had a few meetings in Qatar with PSG that was clearly more important?

I am surprised that a player I thought as intelligent and experienced as Toure would seemingly allow his agent to go out and put stories in the media, they are being shot down almost as soon as they are printed.

I think it's best for him to leave, he is questioning the club's morals and integrity I think with these stories.

I'd want something more than just "regular England international" for £40m.

Southampton neither need nor want to sell him, they're not obliged to do someone a deal just because they're a 'big club', it's not like Utd have a right to buy him for what they want.

Thankfully with the appointment of Koeman it seems the board actually have an interest in achieving something with the club and it looks like potentially the first signs of that are a bit of a two fingered salute and a message that if the big boys want to play the talent poaching game with us, they're gonna have to pay for it, significantly.

That's fine and Southampton have the right to charge what they want but I feel it's massively overpriced and I really hope United don't panic themselves into paying it.

While this is of course correct (even though the outragious indignation is a little much lol)

There have been rumours - and only rumours - for several weeks that Southampton asked for £30m after Uts'd first offer of £27m - I dont really see how "fair" it is to change their mind 1/2 way through the world cup with or without a new manager.

Its also been mentioned by numerous sources that Shaw asked Southampton to leave for Utd on the last day of the season so it smells a little fishy that suddenly (several weeks after they knew he wanted to leave) they suddenly come up with a 33% increase on the value they set a few weeks ago

I don't see why we would. Evra is there for another year, Shaw is still young and there are other left back options out there that won't be horrendously overpriced.

Can't Southampton do what they want?

How is it fishy?

Southampton ludicrously increasing Shaw's value to £40m could potentially be damaging to his progress. Not something I like to see. Now an 18 year old kid has to try and play up to his £40m price tag. He's a quality player and I'm a big admirer but they now run the risk of putting their own player's performance on the line for the extra £10m which they won't get anyway.

£40m for Shaw is just insane money, I mean I know there is inflation and all, but crikey..thats bordering on the money spent for Cavani, Falcao or Neymar even.

I'd say an 18yo not moving because his club wanted £40m for him is going to be under far less pressure than an 18yo who has actually moved to one of the biggest clubs in Europe for £30m...

If they don't want to sell him, there's not much a club can do when he is under a long contract. If he is that keen to move I expect he will hand in a transfer request.

£40m is a stupid amount of money and we'd be laughing all the way to the bank with anything over £30m but after seeing Walcott, Bale and AOC disappear so quickly it'd be good to keep him for at least one more season.

It may also be key in trying to keep a few others.

Pleased but we still need to keep our finger on the trigger regarding other positions.

At least one central defender, a left back, at least one winger and a midfield destroyer.
