There isn't a single player currently playing in the Premiership who's even close to his ability and he'll be a big miss for good or bad reasons. Quality of the Premiership won't ever improve if our best players always leave for Spain.

I would say that he would not have been going anywhere if he hadn't had got that ban.

I don't think Suarez having to serve a suspension makes any difference as to whether they sell him or not. The only factor they will take into consideration is if after the transfer will they be better or worse off without him. They may find that they can bring two or three quality players in and improve the squad as a whole.

If he leaves we are worse off, its just trying to replicated his impact as well as possible and improve the other areas that desperately need it from last year

You could have said the same when Ronaldo & Bale went but the Premier League gets better every year, the Premier League is much more than just a few marquee players. Barca/Real can buy as many £80m players as they want but they'll never be able to buy the best trophy in the world (a Premier League title).

Up front perhaps but if the money is invested properly the squad as a whole can be improved. When we sold RVP we only scored 2 goals less overall the following season and this is going from having Van Persie scoring 30 on his own, to having Giroud and Bentner playing up top.

Effectively no team in history has sold a striker and found the team scoring the same amount less that the particular striker scored. When one striker is scoring buttloads, it's almost certain he's shooting 2-3 times as much as anyone else. Suarez took 181 shots and got 31 goals, Sturridge took 99 shots and got 21. Statistically if Sturridge had taken the 181 shots and Suarez had taken only 99, Liverpool would have scored more as Sturridge had a much better shots/goals ratio.

Fact is, thousands of teams have lost a big name striker, and someone replaces their goals, ALWAYS happens. People like to pretend that if Suarez didn't play, Liverpool would have simply played 10 men every game, a magical 11th player wouldn't play instead of Suarez, and he wouldn't score ever. Likewise other team mates wouldn't score more when they have more chances to shoot.

The highest scorer is usually the most selfish player who shoots way way more than anyone else. Would Liverpool have scored exactly the same amount, or more, maybe, maybe not. Would a different striker have scored 31 goals, probably not. Would with almost any half decent striker the team have likely ended up scoring a pretty similar number of goals.... based on historical evidence, almost certainly. It could have been a few more a few less or bang on.

Lose RVP scoring a buttload, far far far far far far far inferior strikers managed to do just fine. Same goes for every team after losing a big name striker(without extra circumstances, like top striker moved on because of relegation, money, the entire team got sold, etc).

Just a little sidetrack from the whole Suarez saga........

Delighted to see a former Brechin City Youth player make a £3m move to Sporting Lisbon. In the past season he's had some great performances for United as well as getting an U21 Scotland Cap.

With the talk above about Carvalho being a bit steep with a £37m buy out clause, Gauld trumps it with a £48m buy out clause in his 6 year contract! Not bad for an 18yr old!

Well lets hope that we spend the money from Suarez well, I cant see any way that Sanchez will come, he clearly doesn't want to. Will be interesting to see how Rodgers spends the cash.

"I would like 1 Andy Carroll and 1 Marouane Fellaini please"

Well Liverpool will surely get good money for Suarez but it's like the Bale situation really. The player is irreplaceable and the team will be weaker after he leaves.

The Bale situation isn't necessarily a good example. Spurs just bought loads of average to crap players with their money. Liverpool don't need to do that.
