I wasn't going to the British Grand Prix, but ...

I love it when a rich man gets something most fans would give a right arm for for free, I particularly enjoy it when they gloat about it.

But hey at least you worked for your money, I'm extremely jealous.

lol he mad

Apparently it's free, so fair play and I hope Spie has fun. :)

That said, Silverstone is probably the worst spectating track in the UK by a mile (only Thruxton comes close, and even there you get some good spots). I'd enjoy watching F1 from a team's garage, but apart from that I flat out refuse to visit that track again for anything but a club event.

I'd like to meet Jackie Stewart, but as much as I loved Stewart Grand Prix (much of which was Paul's team, but with Jackie as a figurehead, ultimately getting them the works Ford deal) and as good as Jackie was as a driver, he's an enormous hypocrite. He campaigned for safety well, but when it came down to it, when he was needed to try to save the life of a fellow driver, he just raced past with all the others, letting him burn to death. He talked the talk well, but man of honour he is not. He will not go to the grave a content man.

As much as I'd enjoy quizzing him on the 60s and much of his life, I couldn't bring myself to not ask that question.

Edit: reading back, that comes across as rather sour grapes, but I'm genuinely happy. It looks like it should be a great experience. :)

It's free :)
Of course nothing in this world is really "free". It's all paid for somehow.

Just had confirmation of the program and looks like we are in Mercedes AMG Petronas hospitality on race day including the usual pit lane and garage tours. There's also a visit to their motorhome on practice day.

I have no emotional connection to the Mercedes team, but at least they are riding high right now so there should be a good vibe.

All I really want is a pic with Nicole :D

How was this then - did you have fun?

It was a great weekend. Met Lewis Hamilton, Carol Vorderman, Sir Jackie Stewart and believe it or not Prince Harry! Yes I have photos with all of them but I'm not posting them here :p

Highlight was definitely dinner at Sir Jackie's house and looking at his F1 car collection. What an amazing man he is.

The racing was OK but the hour delay wasn't great. What surprised me was the universal condemnation of this years engine and regulation changes. Nobody (except Mercedes) likes them at all and the general consensus across the board is that they have been a huge mistake and will be changed in the near future. That probably means 2016.

It was great to be at the British Grand Prix again. It was just a shame that much of the atmosphere was missing. The engines sound simply awful and I didn't meet a single person who thought otherwise.

Strange, everyone we spoke to thought the engines were fine, much better than expected, particularly when accelerating out of a corner. Lots of rear sliding and car control going on, much better than previous years.

I was a very strong critic before the weekend, but now wouldn't change them. Even the noses looked better than I expected.

You do kind of get used to the drone of the new engines. Then you hear last year's Red Bull car in the Legends parade and you realise just how much is missing.

The Engines sound absolutely fine, they don't pierce your ears or punch your chest like the V8s did.. however, they make far more interesting sounds!

The fans in the Grandstands certainly enjoyed them. They've made the racing fantastic to watch, sat at Luffield watching cars battle to see who could get the power down was superb.

I thought they sounded fine, many more other noises going on too. The V10s and V8s were special, but things move on.

Every opinion I heard from the TV said they sounded fine too, but I'll reserve judgement until I hear them myself in person.

Some of the posts in here are a little silly, but odd we don't get to see any pictures. I would love to be sharing images of an experience like that
