AMD R9 290 (Non-X, Pro, etc) Owners Club

I have just ordered a 250GB Evo. Meant to be good drives I use an 830 as my OS drive and had no issues.

I would get a decent air cooler over a H100i. I had one until it leaked onto my GPU. I find the Be-quiet Dark Rock pro's to cool just as well but remain silent.
 
I'm a bit anti air coolers as I don't feel all that comfortable having a massive hunk of metal weighing down on my Mobo. That said, I've also ordered fans exactly for this setup so I really don't want to order any more :) I enjoy the cooling and volume of them, worked great for my 4770k overclocked. Leaking is of course a worry but it seems you have bad luck with things going wrong!

Just grabbed a 2600k from *insert generic auction site* hopefully shouldn't cost too much when I sell my 3570k but will be interesting to see how the two compare with my crossfire 290s
 
I can't decide if I like the look of the vapor-x cards or not.
Colour wise I don't think I've ever owned a system they would 'work' wirh.
Also I dislike the large coolers. Too big which can make crossfire tricky. Plus, as Noxia said, it's a lot of metal hanging off the board.
Not sure how good the cooling is in crossfire either.

But there is still something about them I like.

Ah ok so it's an i7? Sorry I've always been confused with the intel naming structure. I guess the CPU I have will be fine for 1080p old johnny one screen here.

Now this was a while back say like 2004/5 but I hated air coolers, always struggled to get the flippin things on and then found them very noisy. Granted I was a bit of a noob back then but for simplicity I'd love an air cooler. I don't have a windowed case PC for the very reason I CBA making things match, I'd end up getting OCD about it and buying silly expensive braided cables and what not.

Oh yeah it's totally fine. I've been gaming fine at 1440p with both my cards and just one (in some games) at 1080p and one card it'll be fine especially if you get it clocked up. I'm only doing it because selling my old chip will greatly offset the cost. If there's no noticeable improvement then I'll sell the 2600k. It's also a birthday present for Monday and in off work all week so I have something to tinker away with to distract me from the DIY I should really be doing.
 
Ah, it's my birthday tomorrow :) I look forward to picking up a cheap 4770k or 4790k bundle when the new stuff hits and there is a mass exodus on OCUK :D
 
Nox i upgraded from a 2500K to a 4770K, gaming i didnt notice a huge difference, but in general use the i7 feels a lot more zippy, would definitely recommend an i7 CPU, even the 2600k would be a beast now.
 
I was using a 4770k before mate, but got rid of it all as I had a PS3/4, WII U, 3DS and a monster (at the time) PC. Then I decided I want another but as we're house saving it had to be a sensible one so mainly second hand parts etc and not on a Dell 27" 1440p monitor which in all honesty I found too big for how close I sit, I think 24" is perfect.
