AMD R9 290 (Non-X, Pro, etc) Owners Club

Club3D are quite good I think, they have custom designs Royal King/Queen, also make useful stuff like the multi-stream-transport hub. I usually only see the basic ref cards branded by them here though, not much PR effort in UK I think.

I feel like buying my GPU but I have a feeling an offer will come up as soon as I do. Currently torn between a new Tri-X (which I had ordered then xled) or a second hand MSI Gaming for £80 notes less. The sensible option would ofc be the second hand MSI. Myself and SiDeards73 in a similar situation.

Actually i will buy mine brand new retail, just shopping around for the best deal, but finding out which is the best bang for buck card currently, im leaning towards a Tri-X or a VaporX, wont be buying 2nd hand as i want the Gold ticket games lol, thats pretty much the only reason too.

That ticket isn't worth much though if you're thinking of selling, can't seem to even shift for £15 on MM as lots of the titles are like £2-5 on steam as it is!

The Tri-X is much quieter than the MSI Gaming. Personally after having 3 of the MSI cards with crappy fitting coolers and one Tri-X die I would buy new with a dealer Warranty.

Just order the Tri-X you will be more than happy. :)

Thought id share my babies: im now in the club!

haha Nice one Cheers buddy :)

The 290 runs very hot especially compared to a 670. The heat being expelled is a good sign it shows the cooler is working correctly just make sure you have good case ventilation.

MSI Afterburner works well for overclocking the 290.

Thanks also.. I have plenty of 12cm case fans.. but not one on the side directly over the card.. .. Will have to keep an eye out for ambient case temps.

Well my MOBO+CPU arrived today, memory was posted today, case I bought yesterday but don't know when that's arriving (from the bay). Getting all my fans tomorrow on my birthday. Oh got an optical bay adapter due to me as well from the rainforest.
Still need to get a PSU and order the h100i and a hard drive. I'll end up with quite a lot of rainforest vouchers so Ill use to order my SSD, nice price on 840 Evo 250gb atm for £81.
Si won't sell me his superflower for £80 otherwise that would be sorted now lol. Got a diff case now so LED not an issue
