Yes it would be a good summer for Arsenal. We have kept all the players again except for Sagna but that's not a loss in my eyes.

Still a lot of time before the transfer window shuts as well.

I think it's exceptionally likely that Pod or Santi will be off before long. Other than Santi being crap out wide, being completely ineffective when played out wide, Podolski never seemed to have Wenger's faith. He also needs someone better than Giroud to get the best out of him. I'd quite like to see Pod upfront with Sanchez wide and see what happens with that.

We are picking up a lot of players who can interchange positions but who will get games and who won't in the end.

Midfield three, we have lets say Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshire, Arteta, Flamini, Ox, Santi, Rosicky, Zelalem.

Wide positions, Podolski, Sanchez, Walcott, and maybe Joel Campbell if he comes back being the main ones, but with Ox, Santi, Rosicky often being pushed there due to injuries to others and lack of starts available in the middle.

That excludes younger players(who barely get a chance) and the likes of Diaby. We realistically have a single CB as back up who isn't happy being back up, no other quality beyond Vermaelen. Currently no fullbacks worthy of first team and not particularly proven quality just as back up.

We've got far far too many midfield/wide attackers, very very light in defence and one actual striker. A rough count puts it at say 13 players who can play the midfield 5, with 6 defenders, and effectively 2 strikers... including Sanogo who seems barely capable of kicking the ball.

I think Santi or Pod will leave/ask to leave, and we still need further strengthening in other positions. We should really sell Verm because he wants first team and we need more reliable back up. Bring in a decent replacement and a promising youngster. We've been very lucky with lack of injuries to Kos/Mert, but a single injury to them for a couple months, Verm being unavailable at the same time and we drop back to Miquel... who frankly is poo. This is one of maybe two seasons in the past decade that hasn't been hit by heavy defensive injuries, which each and every time has cost us big... ignoring it again because we got lucky last season with no major defensive injury is madness and asking for trouble.

To give say Zelalem a chance to get some games to potentially break through into the team(something Wenger is dreadful for now), we need space in that midfield. We should be looking to push a few players out who aren't good enough.

All these players man u are signing will go amazingly well with Fabregas, Kroos and Ronaldo who they signed last year. What a team

I would be bitter if this was last year but to be honest with Fergie and Moyes gone for a manager with an exciting football style and our older players gone it does not really bother me one bit nor should it do anyone else.

Like the £80m spent last year and so far £60m not including possibly Vidal? We also offered and put ground work into both Fabregas and Kroos and apparantly Fabregas turned us down and then we broke off the Kroos arrangemnt. As for Ronaldo soon to be 29 with knee niggles cropping up here and there.

So how do you feel about facing a 5-3-2 next year under a new manager who will have a lineup of De Gea Rafael Jones Carrick Evans Shaw Vidal Mata Herrera Rooney Van Persie? RVP being the oldest at 30. Not to mention if you do the FFP maths you can see that Shaw and Herrera and that £60m is just our annual revenue that we can afford to spent every summer. Vidal with Nani,Evra,Rio,Vidic means United are out £0. Could they then perhaps spend £40m on a defender to replace Evans and buy no one next year? Yes they could and there is £150m mentioned for that reason because it is feasable without being fined by Fifa unlike Chelsea or City or PSG.

Exciting football? Guess you were watching different games to me as Holland were quite possible the dullest team in the last 16 (and failed to score in over 3 hours of football against Costa Rica and Argentina). You havent signed Vidal (nor will you), and as to the rest of that lineup, I would love to play against it.

Holland don't have a team with the quality to win the WC so getting to the last 4 is pretty impressive. I don't know what games you were watching as well but Costa Rica and Argentina both camped in their own half most of the game. The Argentina game was the most boring game I have seen this WC because Argentina played with 80% of their team just outside their box and hoped that Messi would conjure something up.

He's obviously bitter about something :D (and by that, I mean you Newbie007).

For the record, I don't think we'll get Vidal and the fact that you alone are trolling based on press speculation is pretty moronic.

A 5-3-2 with only 10 players? Should be simple enough

Ha you! :p

I missed out Carrick Obviously. Although we could probably play the 10 versus your lot. Ricky Lambert is hardly going to make our defenders have sleepless nights. When Vidal signs i will get you a hanky because he is going to win more League medals than Stevie G club legend in two seasons. FACT! I will stake £8 and... 1 of your English pence on this.

:D

Bitter about what, Van Gaal being manager of man u? Not at all, just find it funny that the man u lot here are acting as if they will all of a sudden play this wonderful attacking football, when this is the guy that got booted from Barca for playing turgid and dull football. Holland played the worst looking football at the world cup and will bring the 1-0 to greater manchester

Damn Newbie007, isn't it uncomfortable walking around with that stick up your *** the whole time?

Nah, this halo gets uncomfortable at times though.

He's a genius because he brings on a keeper!!!! Don't you forget that!!!

No, not at all.

Apart from the fact most are lol.

I don't think anyone is calling him a genius but he is much better than Moyes and has let a very average Netherlands side to 3rd place in the WC and we are spending money on transfers so yes, United fans are happy again.

Couple that with Liverpool losing by far and away their best player and having brought in nothing of note we are doubly happy.
