I don't think Evra leaving is the greatest thing in the world. Him and Shaw could have had 50/50 games and bed Shaw in under a LB who once was in the top 2 LBs in the world. Evra's legs have gone and because his legs have gone he does things he shouldn't defensively because he knows he can't get back if he gets done on the outside. It happens.

But now United arguably need a GOOD CB (i.e. Hummels) a young CB who is up and coming to take the place of Smalling or Jones should they not progress (i.e. De Vrij) and then a LB to play in case Shaw gets injured. With Buttner and Evra going, United are now short at LB.

Obviously United need another CM as well and that along with a CB should be #1 priority IMO.

You think adding Vidal and Hummels would mean a guaranteed top four finish?

I would be quietly confident yes. Let's put it this way, if an over performing LFC team with Suarez on fire can go from 7th to 2nd last time out, is there any reason why United can't ?

I'm just eager to see some movement, we still need another 3/4 players really minimum. We currently have one first team left back, one first team right back and three centre backs.

I haven't even seen us linked with any full backs, maybe it's going to come out of nowhere.

Blind has cropped up again in the last few days

Given his versatility ( a reasonable DM also) it wouldnt be a bad choice.

We were also linked with a Swiss RB playing in the BL during the WC ( Rodrigues? Memory maybe failing me though)

Two big names ( in currently vital positions Ie not di maria or Cavani) in cm and ch and two younger fb/defenders would make it a good summer imo. Another ( cheaper / younger) ch ontop IF LvG wants to use 3 at the back (de Vrij / Vermaelan)

Manyoo could never do such a thing in Moses eyes.

If LVG is to be believed, there won't be movement until after the tour anyway.

Always thought that was for the media, and Utd want to finish deals off before anything gets leaked

No one would waste 3 or so weeks on a depleted ( atvthe very least in experience)squad with such a vital season ahead.

Its also a probability that majority of players will hang around for omly a possibility of being transferred.

The squad is screaming out for a few new faces

Apparently according to whom?

Barcelona daily Sport is reporting tonight that Borussia Dortmund's Germany World Cup-winning centre-back Mats Hummels is set to choose to join Manchester United ahead of the Catalan club. The 25-year-old is likely to cost around £16million should be make the switch to Old Trafford.

Then German Paper BILD have came out with this on the rumours...

If a Spanish sports newspaper reports first on the transfer of a Germany international to an English club, a certain scepticism is entirely appropriate.

Mats Hummels to Man Utd is building momentum! Apparently Man Utd have beat Barcelona to his signing!

Klopp when confronted with the Hummels rumours: "did they also say €20m?" *laughs* "when papers mention such numbers you know it's garbage."

According to a Dortmund fan twitter account.

There's no way on earth Hummels will go for £16m (€20m). If that was his price there'd be a lot more clubs than Man Utd in for him. Even if he had one year on his contract left (which he doesn't) he'd fetch more than that. I think he's worth between €30m-€35m.

For them to sell Hummels now we'd need to be offering at least £35m. He's worth it, though.

The Spanish article is complete nonsense. All the different 'sources' are quoting it too, so it's a nothing story at the moment.

I won't pretend to know how good Hummels was at club level but he seemed a bit Rio-esq in terms of pace, I know Messi could rip anyone apart pace wise but every counter attack/long ball Argentina attempted they looked so dangerous against the German defence. Was he injured in the final?
