Kagawa + £16m hopefully, As much as i love the lad it looks like it aint gonna happen for him in England. And truth be told United need Hummels a lot more than they need Kagawa or indeed Nani,Evra or the long list of people we would like cold hard cash for.

I think Hummels could go if the price is right, they could milk United big time. If they got 40m, they would be laughing all the way too the bank..

He's not a better defender than Terry for example..

Wonder what LVG will do regarding formations. If Hummels is a target then i suppose you could say its going to be 4 at the back. If that De Vrij was available at a small punt, he'd be worth i think. Looked alright at the WC, young and obviously capable of playing in a back 3. Back 6 of De Gea/Valencia/De Vrij/Evans/Jones/Shaw, it's not top 4 but it's a great base to work with. Plenty of PL experience between them already..

Klopp has said at a event both Reus and Hummels rumours are stupid

He's right, the Hummels rumours are 100% made up. The guy the story in Spain is attributed to is on holiday and doesn't know anything about it. It's a complete fabrication.

I'd love to be wrong, but there's nothing in it.

If and when we make a bid, it won't be €20m.

Genuine question: is Wenger actually trying to win the league?
Personally, I dont think so.
I think he is aiming for a top 4 finish, which seems to be the usual plan.
Of course, if the opportunity presents itself, he wont decline.

I think Man City and Chelsea have to be favourites (what are the bookies offering?), with Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd fighting for 3rd, 4th and 5th.

With regards to Man Utd buying lots of players - I am worried that we have lost 3 important players (Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand). Admittedly, they are past their prime, but to lose all 3 first team players in 1 hit, is not a good thing. I'd have definitely preferred Evra to share LB duty with Shaw. What happens if Shaw gets injured?

I cant help feel that players are leaving, but few are incoming.

Given that Van Gaal has been managing Holland for a while, I am assuming that he knows a lot about Dutch players. If so, it wouldn't surprise me if he buys some cheap Dutch players who are under-valued.

Has Van Gaal started looking at Man Utd's youth team? Is he planning to use youth players? What's the scoop?

I'd count Spurs as contender for top 4 this season as well as they seemed to have got a decent manager and their squad is miles better than Soton's.

We might get Blind and Vermalean who can play LB.

:) Pleased with Kirkland signing a new contract, turned in some very good performances last season. Similarly pleased with bringing in Hutchinson and McElroy, the former being on loan and doing ~ok~.

However the 'biggest' or rather, one of the most important signing could well turn out to be Loovens signing a contract, albeit for a season.

  • Sheffield Wednesday have re-signed cultured defender Glenn Loovens.

The Dutch international has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Hillsborough.

I would be quietly confident yes. Let's put it this way, if an over performing LFC team with Suarez on fire can go from 7th to 2nd last time out, is there any reason why United can't ?

You do have one big advantage over the top teams this year & that's no European football to get in the way.
Whilst it wasn't the only factor in Liverpool finishing 2nd last season it definitely helped.
You'll have all week to prepare tactically & physically for 1 game generally, they'll be less fatigue and probably less injuries too.
At this moment however that's the only advantage you have as your squad is no better yet and your unproven manager may well be worse than Moyes, fingers crossed.

Sounds like Arsenal are all done.

Still to buy, GK, Center back as it sounds like Vermaelen is off and maybe a center mid.

Wenger needs to ask himself, can this squad win the league....

We have giroud, podolski, Sanchez, sanogo, Campbell and Walcott who can play upfront.

Most of those can swap and change in a game making it hard to play against.

Unless we get rid of a few we can't add any more.

DM is needed, flamini for backup.

I'm not defending Wenger and his transfer policy over the years - but trying to win the league by throwing money around like its gone out of fashion is a very risky policy. Leeds tried to do the same thing before the Chelski era and it didn't work out well for them, look where they are now.

No matter how much money Arsenal spend, Man City and Chelsea can afford to throw around 10 times that amount. Man Utd have the money to easily double whatever Arsenal spend - buying a title isn't a realistic expectation for a club like Arsenal, they simply don't have the financial clout of their rivals. Arsenal have made drastic improvements to the squad this year, Sanchez is a real game changer (potentially) for us going forward and Debuchy has the potential to be better than Sagna ever was. We also have Diaby fit again, which is like a new signing.

I would hope that we continue to remain sensible with regards to transfer activity and perhaps have a look at our wage spending going forward. If we can trim some of the fat from the squad then we can free up some more transfer cash going forward - but I don't want us to take a Leeds-esque risk and use a large amount of debt to finance a push on the title.

As always we need to aim for Champions League qualification as a priority and build from there - as much as I like to the win the league that will realistically only come for us having much better season than expected while everybody else fails to perform. Realistically the title is going to either Chelsea or City barring a **** up of epic proportions.

Liverpool sell one of the best players in the world then go out and buy Remy?

I know he not a replacement but it made me chuckle a little bit
