Will UKIP win its first seat in parliament tonight?

Banksy nailed it about Clacton tbh!

The daft thing is, the sorts of god forsaken hell holes the lackwit Ukippers live in are the last place immigrants would wish to live.

good the last thing this country needs is the future of our international relations and economy put in the hands of sun readers. Anyone who thinks being out of the EU would lead to anything but the UK being left in the dark by the rest of the world is deluded. We punch above our weight as it is. The Americans and the whole of Europe have told us its idiotic and we are on our own if it happens.

And yet we have done no more trade since we've been in the EU then we did before. So we join a club and pay millions for it and gain nothing.

I just hope we don't sign up to TTIP but Cameron and co are convinced it's a good idea :(

Exactly. We need to restart our manufacturing output, but that seems like a pipedream now compared to say 40 years ago.

The need to slow down immigration is there but we have such endemic problems all over the economy that it will not make much differance i suspect.

People are living longer and earning less.... what is happening is no suprise.

We manufacture far more now than we did 40 years ago... Unless of course you want us to give up the high tech stuff and go back to manufacturing heavy girders in steel plants for very little money?

Time and time again this fallacy is brought up yet time and time again people ignore the actual facts...

Edit: Oh, and the earnings thing is also wrong... Average annual real earnings (earnings adjusted for inflation) have gone UP from around £14,700 in 1974 to £22,000 in 2013. Obviously that doesn't quite capture house price rises but gives some good overall numbers. Data from http://www.measuringworth.com/ukearncpi/

There is a large factor involved when looking at a positive contributor and what they give to the country and a negative contributor and what they take. For every "positive" there are many many negatives.

Not every immigrant worker is a dr or a nurse.

Most have low paid jobs paying little tax and take out more than they put in.

Like a significant proportion of people who were lucky enough to have been born in the UK. Statistically you probably take out more than you put in as well... IIRC you have to earn around £35k to be a net contributor in the UK...

Personally I think there are too many people on this island. It is a finite space and, especially in England, population density is way too high. I don't think its coincidence that most of the "happiest" nations are also the developed nations with some of the lowest population densities. I don't however distinguish between whether people are from here or immigrated here...

Also interesting to note is those happiest nations are also nations with some of the highest immigration statistics...

Treating UKIP with contempt isn't bias, it's common sense :p

Why? Because the opposite is true, those blinded by liberalism and socialism are the ones without common sense, their policy's have brought this country to the brink. The abuse that UKIP and it's supporters have faced is nothing short of repellent and is actually borderline illegal if you take these new trolling laws seriously. But please, continue to undermine with, because every time a Lib/Lab/con MP, activist or supporter open their mouths to deny there's a problem and abuse UKIP, they seem to get stronger.

Isn't that election in area with one of the highest white English populations on the island (95% or something) and almost no foreigners (biggest minority group is German IIRC)? Why would they vote UKIP?

As any good Doctor will tell you, prevention is always better than cure

Aren't you a long time BNP supporter? I understand your excitiment now that BNP-lite has some mainstream appeal but I suggest you don't get ahead of yourself. Ring wing nationalism is on the rise in Europe, the US even Australia, as an effect of the prolonged financial crisis but it's not here to stay. It's a symptom that will go back to relative insignificance once the underlying conditions are adressed.

UKIP and their supporters are an utter joke and a complete embarrassment to our great country, nothing more than a sugar-coated EDL.
Most of the ignoramus daily mail loving bigots that vote for them haven't even seen an immigrant in their town let alone taken the time to speak to one.

I don't think I'll bother voting at all next year tbh.

None of the parties are any use at all and this country is already past the point of no return. Glad I was born when I was because I would hate to live in this country in 100 years.

What an incredibly ignorant view you have, labelling many decent hard working UK citizens as "sugar-coated EDL" because they have concerns over the effect of mass uncontrolled immigration and the power that EU laws have over our country, the EDL are a bunch of anti Islamic thugs that have nothing to do with politics.

I'm afraid as a political tactic labelling and insulting UKIP supporters won't work, some parts of the media tried that before the Euro elections and look what happened there.

Ah the old "you must be racist" line. No, as a 2nd generation immigrate who married (and divorced) a Bangladeshi woman and now engaged to a Chinese immigrate, i never have been and will never be a BNP supporter. what on earth has ever given you that idea?

That's the problem with anti-UKIP proponents and left-wing media (like the horrendous bias of the BBC), you amongst others made the huge mistake of thinking UKIP is the BNP Mk2. UKIP is not BNP-lite, and the fact that it's attracting very left wing advocates like scorza and Slam62 should tell you that. But please, continue the accusations and abuse, it's helping us.

Leave them to their ignorance in my opinion, these people never learn and are wrapped up in there liberal "pseudo-intellectual" bias that makes them feel so good about themselves. Peddling destructive policy's at the expensive everyone else because it wouldn't effect them

Look at how much was thrown at them by the BBC, they put Nigel Farage on everything from Newsnight to Question Time to Have i got news for you, in the attempt to make him look stupid and the BNP v2, after all it worked so well doing the same thing with Nick Griffin, but it back fired spectacularly because Nigel Farage isn't racist.

Hardly just as you put it as 'sun readers' is it? UKIP have had gains from all backgrounds. But okay you think its all good and well to put our future and powers to the face less EU then? Having the country run by basically unelected bureaucrats who won't give a damn about the UK and use us as a dumping ground for immigrants, with the UK just being out voted all the time.

So you also must think the now massive strain caused by immigration on the NHS, schools, housing and jobs amongst others has been good and a great success?

It seems you don't have much pride or faith in the country really. We will do just fine as you put it 'in the dark'. Leaving the EU is not a ban on trade, countries in the EU will still need what we offer. Which is of course how it should have stayed, originally as a trade agreement.

Posting videos by Russell Brand isn't going to help your argument, he's the apitomy of what's wrong with the liberal pseudo-intellectual idiots that caused so much pain in today's world. Here's a clue, he's nowhere near as intelligent as he thinks he his.

Given the environmental damage caused by introducing non-native species to any eco-system, I think Banksy actually made UKIP's case for them.

we are happy to have non-natives build our roads, clean our streets and cook our take-away's,

people should be able to move freely in the world, it mostly comes down to two things,

people not liking other people that are different in some way or people thinking that immigrants come for "free" stuff or to "take" things that they think should be theirs.

rabble rabble ukip racist immigration ra ra ra.

funny how the supporters of the main 3 parties say this about ukip BUT wont actually address any of the issues raised but rather shout down ukip.

thats the problem with the big 3, even owen jones on newsnight last night admitted the main 3 parties had failed to listen to anyone and continue to, if things dont change i can see ukip grabbing a good haul of seats come may and of course the 3 main parties fall over each other trying to promise something they will never deliver on.

as for the conservatives referendum they where trying to get it through parliament before the next election so it would force one come 2017 guess what. the lib dems and labour wont entertain it.

labours minister on newsnight last night was saying they where listening then went on to say they know best. they just dont learn.

Controlled immigration can be good. Letting people move freely with little to no controls will, as it has done, cause a large migration to a few chosen countries, thus putting a vast strain on said countries. This is the point and the problem. Taking the EU, originally it was just a few counties of similar level, add in all the ones we have now which have much lower wages and standard of living and what has happened is the result.
