ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

So in the news today, detective saying that they have had a great response from Muslim families in suspected cases, going to the police. Ironically the numbers coming forward might overwhelm the police so that's encouraging.

Yea can't imagine how the parents feel when they find out their kids career choice is blowing himself up.
There just isn't a future in something like that.

Five men have appeared in court charged in connection with a terror plot "to shoot, to kill, police officers or soldiers on the streets of London".
...
The Metropolitan Police said the men are accused of taking an oath of allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) militant group and arranging to buy a handgun equipped with a silencer and conducting "hostile reconnaissance" of a police station and Army barracks in London using Google Street View.

Very troubling...

Reasonable and simple suggestions?

Yes they are but we had this debate "again" recently and someone said it is not their responsibility as their faith is "personal" to them. Which of course is a very smart answer but then we can say that we can knock down all the mosques, stop all Muslim faith schools, ban this and that because at the end of the day their faith is personal and therefore doesn't need the community aspects. Can't have it both ways can they - well actually they do but hey ho. Muslim leaders have been more critical of the actions of their more extreme elements of late though but only of the methodology not really of the goal.

The guys who want people from the muslim community to stand up to the terrorists....how do you guys propose they do it ?

Firstly and most importantly these ISIS nut jobs are not Muslims their vile and barbaric actions provethis. Muslim leaders worldwide have condemn isis if your talking about here in the U.K Muslim leaders have done the same many times e.g

Thousands of Muslims attend mosque in Morden, south west London back in June to condemn them.

100 Sunni and Shiite religious leaders from the U.K. produced a video denouncing the Islamic State, saying they wanted to “come together to emphasise the importance of unity in the UK and to decree ISIS as an illegitimate, vicious group who do not represent Islam in any way.

The most explicit condemnation came from Iyad Ameen Madani, the Secretary General for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the group representing 57 countries, and 1.4 billion Muslims.

You said you used to be muslim ....do you know anyone who actually knew what sharia law entailed and if they wanted it implementing in the uk ?

i mean the hand chopping and stuff.

My ex-wife, one of the many reasons we split up, although she didn't directly mention sharia law, she was a vehement supporter if the death penalty and wanted it for a range of crimes, not just murder. Also all her family and friends (few dozen) all seemed to have the same view. It was chilling to be frank and the attitude in general was sharia like in all but name.

Firstly and most importantly these ISIS nut jobs are not Muslims.

They are most definitely muslims, just because a few other muslims after years of keeping very quiet suddenly start condemning them because they feel pressured doesn't alter the fact they're still muslims.

All muslims seem to pick the bits they like and say as it's written by the prophet it's the law and they have to obey.

ISIS are just picking the bits they like, they're still muslims.

Absolutely, it's the latest myth the political elite is trying to peddle to prevent an up-rising in the streets.

As much as i detest them, the Westboro Baptist Church gang are Christians, warp deluded Christians, but Christians never the less

I feel sorry for the parents, but very happy another barbaric idiot has gone to hell.

I still dont understand his justification for going...he says he felt it was his duty as muslims were being slaughtered...but who exactly are IS killing? seems to be a lot muslims to be who are on the end of their brutality

Yeah I'm sure isis have twisted it somewhat. Along the lines of they're too westernised and not real Muslims or something.

I feel for his parents but it's hard to feel any empathy for him.

Good riddance.

It's still shocking that people in the UK are leaving to join them!

The thing is every ex UK one that's killed will only encourage more to go over there.

The thrill of being in your own computer game is simply a massive pull for these immature muslims.
