** NEW GIGABYTE ULTRAFORCE 9xx SERIES LAPTOPS!! **

Delay confirmed :(

ETA for CF1 = 05/11/14
ETA for CF2 = 14/11/14

I'm very tempted to switch to CF1 now. If I stick with CF2 I will have to wait until Saturday 22nd for delivery - too long!

If I switch my preorder from CF2 to CF1 would I be able to have delivery for Saturday 8th?

I don't care that it's £200 more.

Atom80 confirmed here that the screen is the same as with the P35W v2. The reviews of that model (for example; here and here) state that it used an IPS display. 'Wide Viewing Angle display' is just another way to say 'IPS display'. On Gigabyte's website the 3K and 1080p screens have both been confirmed to be 'wide viewing angle displays' = both IPS. I'm 99.99% certain of this.

To be 100% certain I'd wait for Atom80's response, of course!

Your assumptions are correct. IPS is a brand of screen, but others produce the same spec screen, so we move away from calling it "IPS" as sometimes supplier changes. If we call it "wide viewing angle" then this technically covers all the possible suppliers that we could use, and removes the need for us to set up new product, part numbers and EAN codes.

We would therefore just differentiate the 2 types of panel as either;

FHD
or
FHD Wide Viewing Angle

Hope that clarifies for all.

Thanks,

Hey Atom80,

If I switched my preorder from CF2 to CF1 (which has ETA 05/11 instead of ETA 14/11 for CF2) - would I be able to have delivery for Saturday 8th?

Regards

Hey Atom,

I've pre ordered the P35W v3, and I really want to know if there is any kind of gpu downclock as it seems that the the power supply isn't enough.. Just wondering.
So, is the delay confirmed? :s

Regards

Hi Cakefish,

You have very keen eye ! We updated the ETA about an hour ago !

The OCUK exclusive sku, with the 4860HQ processor, (the CF1) leaves on a plane tomorrow, so could be in OCUK by Monday/Tuesday.

As with all these things we are in the lap of the gods really, but if customs clearance and all the various stages the shipment has to pass through run smoothly, then I sincerely hope we can be delivering stock to customers mid-end of next week.

I cant be any more accurate than that unfortunately.

As an example - one shipment of different stock left us on a Friday, and arrived in UK re-seller warehouse on the next Monday, so 3 days.... And another delivery took 10 days. Nothing we can do to make these things faster, we just have to cross everything !!

But one thing for certain is the CF2 is going to be a couple of weeks behind.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Thanks for the info. In that case I will change my preorder to CF1. I can't cope with all this waiting! :)

That is great. Many thanks!

Now I will just await for reviews (specially temp-wise with a 980M) and decide between P35W and P35X :D

Just curious, how many CF1's are you shipping to OCUK?
I haven't placed my pre-order yet since I'm awaiting reviews. I might change that if the quanitity is really limited, as in 2 pieces or something.

Yet more questions....

Hi there, based on all the feedback provided so far I've placed a pre-order for your cf1 configuration. I do have a couple of questions:

(1) is it straightforward to replace the internal HDD with a SSD, e.g. A Samsung evo 840 for example? I am aware that the slot used for the dvd can be used to hold a SSD, but I'm more concerned about eliminating the HDD/moving parts to be honest.

(2) probs a question for overclockers, but what is the most economic and straightforward way for me to kit this laptop out with windows 8.1 pro?

Many thanks
Nige

Hi Nige,

We are waiting for HQ to confirm on point 1).

I don't want to give advise without it being confirmed as "easy"

I know customers do install Pro on these units, but as for costs etc, probably best for OcUK to answer/advise.

Update you next week on the HDD replacing question.

Hi again, will there be any smaller size laptops like 14" ? something like P34 v3 ? and will it have 970m in it ? could you speculate on this model more any visual changes as well ? Just because if P34 v3 would look like P35 v3 (sexy black) with 970m better cooling would be deal breaker !

Here's some info I found from excaliberpc.com:

Though the 15.6" screen is definitely a typo!
