Who is looking forward to GTA V

Yeah, but I don't understand what 'depth of field' on or off actually means or what is does.

What is the practical difference. I was trying to see the difference last night and I couldn't really tell. In the end I think I liked it better with the setting 'off' but not sure why (I know the PS3 version didn't have depth of field).

it puts blur on foreground/distance depended where you are looking

The depth of field will allow the screen to focus on something the foreground, while blurring the background. So if you have it turned on, and look closely at a car, everything but the car (should) blur out a bit.

It is the same effect that a lot of mods do on PC (ENB mods normally), to make the game look more realistic.

I haven't played this version of GTA but usually depth of field simply means things at a distance are out of focus. If it is static then all things in the distance will be blurry and up close sharp. If it is dynamic then usually it changes depending on what you are aiming at. Try aiming at something close and keep an eye on object in the distance they should blur.

Yep^^^we covered it pretty well :D

That is the way our eyes work and camera's work so possible to argue it is the more natural way to play a game. Personal preference really, some games I like it others I don't. It is nice that R* have given us the option.

so presumably everyone plays with depth of field 'OFF' then. Why would anyone want the game to be blurry?

I like it because it makes taking pictures look more realistic when the background is blurred.

Just like ENB mods on PC that effectively add depth of field. People buy expensive gaming rigs so they can run ENB mods, just to make part of the screen blurry :p

But yes, sometimes it may look a little unnatural. I leave it on though

Sometimes I prefer driving in 3rd person, just so I can appreciate the $50K I've just spent on paint and wheels :p

But bikes are definitely best in 1st person. I have a lot of brown pants moments :D

WOW this game can look gorgeously realistic  not my pics grabbed them from the social club ;)

Any-one else still prefer 3rd person view?

I'm undecided. I like shooting in first person even though I'm terrible and should stick to assisted third person. I do not like walking around in first as it feels very jerky and not smooth at all.
I also prefer driving in third person, I wish I could always shoot in first but move in third.

Regarding the DOF, I'm not convinced it works properly because some things were blurry that were very close to the person I was shooting at and when dipping out and in of cover it didn't always appear so. Odd.
