** Star Wars Episode VII - SPOILERS WITHIN **

As already pointed out, it wouldn't block a saber, it would just cut through the emitters...

Also lightsabers can be turned on and off, so a guard doesn't really help.

it is what it is, I just hope they don't make all the Lightsabers in the film (assuming there are more) have the same blade effects, not liking the scraggy electrical look.

Also, if a saber blade slid down the main blade of that things it wouldn't just shear of the mini-saber at the hilt.

Why not?

Did others notice at the end of the trailer, at the bottom it says:

(c) 2014 Lucasfilm Ltd.

Not Disney?

Disney own Lucasfilm. Same way the Marvel films are all Marvel studios, they're now part of Disney.

He wasn't singled out, it was his request.

Throughout the six Star Wars films, lightsabers come in three colors: red, green, and blue....save for one extra-special Jedi master. While filming the Battle of Geonosis in Attack of the Clones, Sam Jackson asked George Lucas if his weapon could be purple to make Mace Windu stand out. Purple is Jackson’s favorite color and it is often featured on his movie characters. Mitch Hennessy wore a ring with a purple gem in The Long Kiss Goodnight, Mr. Glass wore purple clothing in Unbreakable; Jackson chose to have Doyle Gipson wear a purple hat in Changing Lanes; and Lazarus, his character in Black Snake Moan, plays a purple Gibson guitar.

This is very interesting news.
At the time I had heard an interview with Jackson, where he said Lucas gave him a different coloured sabre, rather than the story reported above. I guess like everything star wars there are multiple ways to tell the different tales.

Read a newspaper report about a backlash against the black guy in the trailer, as all stormtroopers should be jangos, I wasnt aware of this. I thought stormtroopers were all brainwashed conscripts, rather than the clone troopers who were jango clones.
Can anyone clarify?

Storm troopers are not all Jangos. CLONE troopers were all Jangos. By this point in time (assuming they continue with this) there were several types of clones as well as normal soldiers recruited (Which has also been shown in Star Wars Rebels as well)

Pretty much this.

How it should be.

[geekout]Actually, if the lightsaber hilt was made from Cortosis alloy, you'll find that if the hilt was struck by another saber it would remain quite operational while the one that struck it shorts out. That is excepting the fact that Disney has deleted the EU, so Cortosis probably no longer exists in this universe![/geekout]
