*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Our group had a moral victory by getting to the end of the first section, opening the bridge, then wiping. We had a couple of 29s still (me, for shame), so not a bad effort.

Then we went to do VoG hard...and realised that is a pain in the backside with 29 as well now....then had a jolly through VoG normal.

Going to gear up, hopefully to 31 by next reset.

we made it past the 2nd part (bridge of doom with swords), HOLY MOLY that section was frickin hard, but we are pretty much screwed now bcos mobs are lvl 32 yellows >.<

I think it's pretty lame that mobs are lvl 31 + 32 when the raid is advertised as lvl 30..!

Especially considering how difficult it was to get to lvl 30 before DLC landed (you had to be blessed by RNG-sus with raid drops).

got a raid armor drop though, gloves, so already doing better than VoG for gearing ^_^

It does seem very hard. We're at the bridge atm, got two across but dead.

Yeah i think we did well for a completely blind first attempt. I think we are half way through, possibly 2 thirds. We just couldn't get past the boss on the section after completing the bridge of doom!

Got a pair of raid boots :)

We'll get there next time, just need to keep the darkness down.

I found out what it was stopping me from getting back on, coconut errors. Wouldn't even let me sign in offline. Quit trying in the end.

Give me a shout for next time.

Well... sheeeeet, that's hard! We were on the right track with the second section. We just need to come up with a consistent strategy and I think we'll be sorted. :)

Now I'm going to go find myself lots of level 5 Thralls and make them pay!

All,

Some Super Good Advice from reddit for those who have not set foot in raid yet, currently the first chest in Crota is easily soloable.

It can spawn in 3 places, all of which can be reached by a hunter with invisibility and 1 of which can be reached by all classes:-

Video showing 3 locations for hunter:-

Video showing 1 location for all (have to reset instance until it spawns in this location)

Chests Contains:-
2 Radiant Energy or Shards
Chance of Class Item
Chance of Exotic

Fingers crossed guardians

Our XB1 group got to Crota and called it a night. We'll try and finish it off tomorrow hopefully but it was tough figuring out what we needed to do to get to this point. About 4½ hours total time so far.

Any luck this evening raiders? How far did you all get? I watched a couple of streams but generally had no idea what was actually happening at all, something about a sword and a crest or rune or something?

As rob said, we made it to crota!! woop! :D

Some of it is damn awkward though but it feels pretty short. :(

My team and I gave up after an hour or so at the final boss. I got nothing but radiant energy up to that point.

For those going in blind with 30s, it is tough going, but pretty straightforward.

My main should hit 31 tomorrow though thanks to a lucky Vanguard level :D

Pretty nice to get an exotic within seconds of starting the raid :o

Well our team made it to the bridge but we ended up having to leave it at that point due to needing sleep.

Our team consisted of three level 30's and three level 29's (could have been 4/2, I can't remember. EDIT: Per below it was 4/2). The level 31 adds at the bridge were a nightmare for the 29's. I was near as makes no difference being one hit by the big dudes (one thrall attack and I was dead) so I can only imagine the frustration as a level 29. Did anyone else notice that they (big dudes) also regained health extremely quickly?! I have a hard hitting 283/331 attack pulse rifle (three little words) I need to fully upgrade - that should help a bit.

To know we will be up against level 32 enemies further on..... :(

I have the checkpoint saved so hopefully we can start again at that point to get across the bridge. We know what to do, it is just the doing it part that is the trouble.

The team was:

OweO - Level 30 Warlock
Piphal - Level 29 Titan
Greboth - Level 29 Warlock
Sieze2 - Level 30 Warlock
Zoomee - Level 30 Hunter
Maxi_Live - Level 30 Hunter

If you guys give me a shout when you are all available. I'm not sure if I will be available for the raid tonight. We have until the Tuesday reset I assume to give it another crack without starting over.

I'm starting to agree with guys that said you need to be lvl 31 to do this.

Yeah if the adds are level 32 after the bridge it would be like running the VoG hard at level 27 for the current level 29's.

I should hit level 31 by just re-rolling my current helmet and getting my current armour up to 33 light (gauntlets and gloves). They are both waiting to upgrade but I need more shards..

I have spare exotics to give me the shard needed for my helmet (In case I miss Xur).

It was enjoyable to give a try going in blind :) we know how to get over the bridge now so would be good continue from there. Hopefully I can get my boots ranked up before next time so at least I will be 30.

As a level 29 it wasn't as bad as I expected, the thralls at the beginning were ridiculous but that's due to there being 27 million of them. Obviously at the bridge if they got close it was a problem but on the right plate / tower plenty of visibility to pick then off before getting close. I also think my maxxed mythoclast was helping with my level deficit.

Thanks for the game last night guys.

Had a right laugh!- it's been a while since I've enjoyed this game instead of it feeling like a grind as VoG was just becoming monotonous. So all that raid armour we got from the VoG raid is now a waste of time as we can just buy the vanguard gear to get to Level 31 - meh!

Sieze2, Greeboth and I are already set for our usual Friday Night 8:30 raid. I'll be more than happy to organise and the original team gets first dibs.

Friday 12th December 20:30 Start
1)- Zoomeez - Level 30 Hunter
2)- Sieze2 - Level 30 Warlock
3)- Greeboth - Level 29 Warlock
4)- OweO?
5)- Piphal?
6)- Maxi_Live?

Please let us know asap please fellas so we can get a full team sorted prior to friday, thanks.

Also, In future Pyschosonny - With all due respect, please don't join our fireteam - this isn't the first time you've left us half way through a game and just 'do one'. We already had Maxi_Live waiting but you joined irrespective :(

I just need a few more marks to buy the gauntlets, then pray either an exotic helm or upgrade for my skull of dire ahamkara comes up on Xur on Friday, and I'll be 31.

So....which tactic did you go for in first section, the way I see it there were two :

1. Just run hell for leather, pause in the light for just long enough to remove the debuff so you didn't stop running before the next one. I managed to get to the end on my own doing this when the team wiped. Getting a full team to do it will be tricky

2. The slow methodical method, just move steadily between towers, covering all sides, mowing down thralls, stopping to revive and chaining supers

I still reckon method 1 is do-able...but if there are other chests in the door in the first section....I guess 2 is the way

Anyway, I'm 30 now, I'd be up for another go later in the week, I'll be doing VoG normal with my hunter for ascendants to get my new gear up as well.

I can reach 31 with the kit I now have thanks to my lucky drops yesterday. Starting to think I should just aim for 32 and be done with it instead though. I have light 36, 30,33,33, helmet to boots in that order. What is the maximum light level achievable with that atm?
