*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Wow May, Im nearly done with the CE raid and if Bungie cant prove the use of Radiant material (at a guess it will be what all raid items will need in the future) then Ill just have a nice break from the game.

Really hoping they make something interesting PvP

Not sure I quite see the point of doubling shotgun damage and reducing range. Up close they are OHK so double damage isn't going to help, though I suppose it will help in the rare occasions you get surprised and only half hit a gaurdian.

I think fusion rifles still need a nerf too in PvP, it seems some of them have a quick enough charge time to not need pre-charging to be OHK and out gun guns like the suros. Maybe my aim is just rubbish but seems a lot of people rage at fusion rifle deaths so I don't think it is just me.

Edit: HoW being May, wow didn't expect that. That is a long time for the DLC to strech too. Hopefully ToO brings something new as apart from running CE to get my alts to 32 I am loosing interest in doing NF and weeklys as nothing I really want and nothing to spend all the coins I already have.

Fusions have also seen a nerf. Mostly range related IIRC.

Shotgun is only changed in PvE, where is was next to useless. Now the damage may be worth the risk of getting up close where typically you get ripped to shreds very quickly.

Oh whoops! serves me right for scrolling through quickly while at work. Still probably going to be useless in PvE though as cheese spots are at range so snipers will still be king.

A video is doing the rounds showing level 42 VoG armour with the expectation that a higher level VoG is going to be made available prior to the next DLC. It also shows vendor armour going up to level 39.

This would make a lot of sense as it would get people playing VoG again and also increase the level cap to 34.

Legendary weapons are showing as 365 damage although, strangely, exotics are only 345 (or something like that - can't quite remember).

If it's true, and if Trials of Osiris does come out in March (the expectation now is that it'll be March 10th), there might just be enough to tide me over to May.

Personally, I'm looking forward to trying out Swordbreaker against some Praetorians in VoG once the buff happens :D

That was totally a deliberate leak...punt a test character into live and have them run around the tower a bit with upcoming weapons/gear until a few people screengrab it....let tinternets do the hype...profit.

Would love to be able to get max light with VoG armour....and have a new more difficult version of it to play through :)

Oh I agree, I like using swordbreaker and against the knights in the lamps and nice shotgun against Praetorians at the gatekeeper part in VoG. I was thinking the wider PvE of missions and strikes though that (almost) everyone cheeses in which case sniper are still king.

Interesting, I am surprised they didn't actually release a higher level VoG with +36 light armour drops when DB was released. The VoG armour wouldn't have the right perks for CE but would still mean people have to more chance to hit 32, means people still have to raid to hit 32 but most importantly means VoG would still be relevant.

Always wanted a NF Raid setup - team wipe means back to orbit

Can't believe they are messing with the guns again - like the ARs arn't already nerfed for range!!!

Quick to screw the game up but can't be bothered fixing all the bugs like usual bungie.

EDIT: Vid contains swearies, nevermind.

Search "Samuel Jackson as Ghost (voice actor) - Destiny [funny]"

Seriously!? You cannot honestly believe that auto rifles are on a level playing field with other weapons!? In PvE, with DPS not being all important, other weapons get a look in, but in PvP it's pretty much all auto rifles.

I'd take a Hawkmoon over a Suros any day, except I don't have a Hawkmoon :( :p

I haven't used auto rifles in PvP for months (except for auto rifle bounties) as I find handcannons much more effective, unless im close range but that's what shotguns are for. Bungie seem to nerf weapons based on popularity, not their effectiveness, I don't even think auto rifles deserve a nerf but I don't care since I don't use them. By the looks of it handcannons will be getting nerfed next, Thorn and The Last Word are already quite popular and the more autorifles get nerfed the more popular handcannons will become.

I'm curious to see how much of a difference this handcannon nerf will make in PvE, I already notice a lot of my precision hits missing in mid range encounters. Worst case scenario I will have to swtich to using scout rifles but then I will lose the ability to one shot most common enemies.

The shotgun buff is a welcome change, like most I simply stopped using them as a fusion rifle or sniper was always a better choice. I may even use swordbreaker for VoG now, it will show those pesky minotaurs who is boss when they close in to smack me.

I think Auto rifles are so popular due to the misconception they are the best or people find it easier to kill with them. It happens on destiny and it has happened previously on CoD. It was widely known in MW2 the M16 and in MW3 the Type 95 were OP but they were both 3 round burst so you still saw automatics and smg's being used. I think the applies to Destiny, some scount rifles and some hand cannons and to a degree some fusion rifles all do more DPS than autorifles. The problem with them all is you have to be accurate.

Edit: I would ass though CoD it was possible to test these things in private lobbies but as Destiny doesn't have them it is all slight conjecture. Unlike Reeve above I do have hawkmoon and suros and would pick hawkmoon everytime.

Edit 2: Only done it as a fireteam of 3 going in to free for all (rumble) but coul you do it with a fireteam of 6 so no randoms and could test the guns properly.

I rarely use an auto rifle in PvP, hand cannons or shotgun for me most of the time. I sometimes use my Vex depending on the map and even rarer than that I'll use my Suros. What I'm really looking forward to is getting my Hawkmoon upgraded so I can use that!
