BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

New BT HH5 firmware is causing major line reset issues. You need to enable all wireless even if you have no wireless devices otherwise it resets constantly now which is happening to loads of us now its also causing DLM to kick in aggressively as its seeing this as a line fault

Post here to let them know:

Just noticed the new firmware. It's been rock solid and now shows:

Connection time: 4 days, 05:44:00
Downstream: 66.9 Mbps
Upstream: 19.53 Mbps

I was getting 79 Mbps before this. Will have to try a restart and see what we get.

What is the point in BT bidding for new estates if they wont put fibre in. Just been on the phone to them after sending a twitter message, no plans to roll out fibre. The estate I live on with the GF has at least 400 new homes and another 200+ to be build, 1 Mile down the road has fibre. It's so frustrating :(

Same here. Going to be stuck on 6MB ADSL for a few years it would seem.

Roadworks.org is reporting work going on in my area! :)

It's saying that they're installing a NGA cabinet and also:

Does this mean they're replacing the existing cabinet? Will the phone go down whilst this happens?

Sounds like they're just adding an FTTC cabinet. Our original cabinet was replaced first as it was in such a bad state then they added the FTTC one. There was no noticeable phone down time.

To be honest anything under around 30-40ms is absolutely imperceptible to me, I am not sure why people get hung up over latency (although I do not play any computer games)

I'd always take the bandwidth :)

With any luck I will gradually inch back up, I was at a "stable" 70mbit prior to messing around with it all.

Modern lag compensation techniques in games do give a great impression to the end user, but if the other guys packets indicating he shot you get to the server before yours you still lose.

Ah yes, gaming online is something which passed me by, it was all Nintendo (NES and SNES) when i was into my computer games :p

Restarted the HH5 with this new firmware at it now will not go above 67 Mbps. We were always getting 79 Mbps before. The Sky box has also lost wifi connection a few times.

IS there any way to get bt to reset the DLM on a line?

I swapped out a HH5 for a white modem and asus router weeks ago and no sign of it going back up... in fact its slower than before! same line stats.

Right, found the source of my disconnect problems, each time the phone rings instant drop out, Filters are on all 2 of the phone sockets so i'm clueless here, can only think one of the filters are duff.

As a result my HH5 is now only syncing 52down and 6 up.

Nope, can take up to 4 weeks on a line thats been unstable for a while.

I love DLM.

Noticed the disconnect issue at it seemed to come at the most inconvenient times but the latest nuisance has been problems resolving IP addresses, it seems to be worse in the evening where Chrome will be stuck showing "Resolving host" even if I'm trying to access something common like Google...

Actually thinking about dumping BT over it, it's hilarious they're prattling on about whatever throughput they can offer when they can't get the basics right.

Ah, ok than, aslong as its not a fault within my house than its kinda ok, not getting the service i'm getting.

Hope when they fix this i'll get my full speeds back, 50/5 is not acceptable.

"Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.204 (Type A) Last updated 12/02/15"

Mine hasn't been updated it seems, even though that link states they started rolling out updates yesterday, annoying, everytime the phone rings or if someone picks it up to dial something, it just goes.

They delayed the update to fix more stuff Uncle Gravy...

Since our last update we’ve been busy rolling out configuration changes to the affected BT Home Hub 5As. We're really sorry if you’ve continued to experience the performance issues detailed above.
The reason some people may be still seeing issues is that we have had to make some extra changes to the fix we’re sending out based on feedback from our customer test group. This means it's taking a little longer to deploy the fix and for you to see the improved performance.
We're working around the clock to make sure it's done asap. Please leave your BT Home Hub switched on to ensure it receives the fix.

No one knows if it is a new firmware number or what though ??

"Working around the clock" its bedtime for them now -_-

I've had a lot of drop outs in the last hour, its beyond, i'm afraid now that when they do eventually fix it I won't be seeing the 80/20 speeds I had last week.

Is it worth me investing in a new Modem and ditching the HH?

Did it get to 79 again as mine dropped to 67 & is on the old firmware still but has refused in over 4 days of being stable with no dropouts to go back to 79Mbps from the current 67?

If you like seeing your stats and get a picture of what is happening it is.
