ISIS and Islamic militants - discussion

That will never happen its impossible, due to the restrictions of not upsetting anyone and the being offended police.

I would sooner see ISLAM banned utterly in the UK, but that is for another thread and no doubt i will end up being called a bigot, ignorant etc etc.

Doesn't anyone think maybe just maybe we should stop meddling in the middle east and not give them a reason to hate us ?
or is that too straight forward :p

Strange thing is the ISIS have done a wonder PR campaign to convince the world that Islam is a great religion !

Perhaps the West can set up a 'paid for' Foreign Legion of military train troops to volunteer to go and fight against ISIS.
I would go....!

How can the army fight against a bunch of cowards that will melt away into civilians, to attack with IEDs (see Afghanistan), so unless you plan to go in and wipe out everything, the army can do very little except become targets.

It might be cowardly but it's working. They have limited resources so they have to resort gorilla tactics.

I just don't understand these people. I mean, It's insane. They're killing innocent people, wiping away villages and history (they recently trashed a bunch of idols of historic importance).

My mind is just blown at how anyone can get involved with people as violent as them. :o

Yes its too straight forward.

Number 1 Reason

Oil, The world as it stands depends on the dead trees the region just happens to be sitting on dead trees. These dead trees give us everything currently consume in some form or other. (Although this is changing slowly) Pin your hopes on graphene.

2.

The ideology of the region, The sand people never had a renascence like we did in the west and its way way more brutal than anything the west has ever known (and boy have we been brutal) Infact they had the opposite with religious leaders clamping down hard on anything remotely educational since the discovery of optics.

Nothing stopping you going now, there have been a few other civilians who have gone off to fight alongside the Kurdish resistance.

Poor response tbh.

We elect a Government and fund a modern military to protect us from major threats. With that apparatus in place not just here but in pretty much every major economy, I'll ask again.

What are we doing just watching this happen? At this rate it will be us who are shouting on the internet who'll have to take war to the streets if they manage to get here in major numbers. A serious possibility given their threat to overload boats of folk on the Libyan coast into Italy.

Are you happy with the current impotency of seemingly every developed nation in formulating a response to this severe threat?
We're not "just watching it happen". Next.

Oh right. So as long as you are ok, that is where your responsibility ends. Righto. So why are you crying for other people to help, but it's fine for you do nothing (but cry on the internet) ?

I'm hardly crying. I'd just like the cancer that is Islamic fundamentalism excised from the world before it's too late to save the patient.

Trees? Not many trees there .... ever. I think you are confused

Crude oil was made over millions of years from tiny plants and animals, called plankton. The plankton on the left would form oil in about 150 million years time if the sea bed is not disturbed. The plankton that lived in the Jurassic period made our crude oil. This was the time of the dinosaurs.

Like most regions they have waxed and waned as far as education is concerned. The region was for long the seat of learning and it was the west who were ignorant, more intent on looting and destroying than progress. This changed but it was only about the 1800's when the west really started to motor on education and discovery.

It's been alluded to earlier in the thread but in the 13th Century the Mongols basically wiped out the dominant Islamic civilisations in the Middle-East (look up the sacking of Baghdad), whereas Christian civilisations escaped relatively unscathed in comparison with only Russia and Eastern Europe really suffering to the same extent.

Whilst I concur about not medddling in matters that may not concern us, I do believe we should be concerned when residents of other countries are kidnapping our own (voluntary aid working) civilians, and beheading them. Don't you agree? Or should we just ignore that?

Maybe some people have no choice. Desperatrion, fear, cohersion.
