***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Just to say it's running great on my 7950. I get constant 58 to 60 fps on all settings high. Could probably push it a little further as my gpu is only being used around 80% mark

Online play is a bit of a mare but great once you do manage to join with mates. I was getting invites off of mates, would accept then would get dumped in some random other MP map with no friends on. I did eventually manage to join up, then after waiting because my brother was stuck doing online tutorial missions (which I somehow missed doing) and after messing about for a bit we did one of the briefcase icon missions and had to get money bags from the top of a high rise bank and deliver it back to a racecourse. We were all wobbling about in helicopters. None of us had flown a helicopter in game up til then so was a sight to behold. Was great fun though, just a shame it is such a pig to join up with friends currently.

- In answer to Fox above, if you have friends or maybe crew mates on the map, they seem to show up as a red/blue circle and can be seen on the minimap if fairly close but if further out then yes, as far as I could see you have to open the large map and try to find them

How did you manage to do a job with mates? None of us could work it out as everytime one of us initiated it then we'd just be dumped in a random server and game :(

Sorry for killing a crewmate last night with the water cannon on the fire truck :) Although he did kill me back!

You guys using TS or ingame voice chat?

Bought the game off steam last night, i played it on PS3 but after the hype everyone is giving it i couldn't resist buying it for pc :D good job i have fiber though 59.1GB  didn't get chance to play it last night but hopefully ill get chance tonight after work before going to the girlfriends. how does it play with a GTX780 at 1080?

Yeah that happened to us as well. 2 mates were in a game together and invited me (through esc > social > invite friends i think) but it kept just putting me in random other multiplayer instances or i'd get 'multiplayer timed out' or 'multiplayer not compatible message' or something. But after a number of tries it suddenly worked. Then when we invited my brother who was stuck on the online tutorial missions it worked first time.

Seems to be trial and error but a bit of a ball ache nonetheless

Running on minimum sleep at work today, got carried away with GTA online last night/This morning

I have FPS issues and think its my CPU :(

Well after booting it up and it being a stuttering mess I updated my drivers and now the game is running great. Still think Mafia II is better in every way though. I wish this game had an option for slightly more simmy car handling. Feels a little like crazy taxi at times.

Had A quick go last night, during benchmark it was displaying lowest of around45-50 highs of a 100fps. However when playing I keep getting large chunks of stoppage despite the game Playing Smoothly between. This was on highest graphics.on lowering the game.played a bit better but still suffered. Pc is
4670k at 4.2
Hd7990
16gb
Asus

I'm guessing cpu related but bugs me that the benchmark runs so well.

Game doesn't even load for me. I click Play in Steam and the GTALauncher.exe app crashes immediately. Verified the installation files and all ok, my Windows username is all lowercase too. Very frustating!

The benchmark is short 10 second bursts and isn't really representative of the load of actually streaming all those assets in game.

Hard to say whether it is gpu or cpu related really. Seems to vary from person to person. If you have MSAA enabled, disable it as that will be a large performance hit along with shadows.

so, two hours all in to download, patch and be at the start menu...not bad at all.
One crash during the very beginning (stealing the car with Lemar), but nothing since.

All settings set to maximum (except msaa which is x2), 2560x1440, 144hz, SLI, G-Sync. Sit's mainly 80fps outdoors, 144fps indoors (!), lowest i've seen is outside the repo garage where it's in the 60's.

Really enjoying it but can't work out how to attach the car to the tow truck? :D

After installing the new drivers, it reset my over-clock for some reason. I was playing the game on an under-clocked card @ 430mhz instead of the usual slight over clock of 1200mhz or there about :o

I couldn't tell 'cause the MSI Afterburner overlay wasn't working for some reason. I realised as soon as a finished last night, so I went back in and applied my over-clock again, now getting a pretty constant 60fps (v-sync enabled) with most stuff on high, with textures on post-fx on very high (they are the "main" things that make the game look good...?) on a OC 7850. Very happy :D

Can't wait to play this again. Everything is just so much faster than the PS3 version, even loading into online.
