Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 29th April 2015]

We played OK against Chelsea but it was clear from the first minute exactly what Chelseas tactics were and we didn't take our chances. We didn't play particularly well considering how little attacking intent Chelsea had and how much of the ball we were allowed.

Depends what you consider a good performance, we can agree our play needs to be more clinical.

Either way we were on a good run until now so let's not get too critical :p

With the right signings in the summer, we'll be challenging for the title again. It'll be more difficult than ever though, especially if Arsenal make another decent signing or two as well.

Still need an out and out winger on that side

Mata and Herrera link up well, plus he had a great game against Liverpool. But I think you may be right, we need more pace on that side. Also I think Mata may be more effective in the Fellaini role. Okay it takes away the aerial threat but he can provide assists and score goals as well.

Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry (c), Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Hazard

Subs: Cech, Filipe Luis, Zouma, Mikel, Loftus-Cheek, Cuadrado, Drogba

Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Monreal, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Sanchez, Giroud

Subs: Szczesny, Debuchy, Gibbs, Flamini, Wilshere, Walcott, Welbeck.

I was hoping Mertesacker would be injured still, Hazard will run rings round him. :(

Why the hell did LVG play falfail over RVP a proven scorer. The guy is a flop and sooner rid the better not worth what he is being paid one of the best strikers in the world my rear he is obviously not cut out for the prem.

Also same thing happened playing v Chelsea given loads of room and hit on the counter yet done nothing to change tactics. I am starting to dought LVG (granted never liked the choice to begin with he has not won silverware for a long time). He don't adapt the tactics and plays a very old slow fashioned system that will not work in the prem. Last time he won silverwear was in 2010 and in Germany a much slower paced football league.

Problem is even Fellaini isn't good in the Fellaini role - he cant even get a shot on an empty goal, several aerial duels he lost out to players several inches shorter

We do need more height in the team, even in attack - but Fellaini was never likely to be anything more than a very short term answer

.

RvP wasn't playing well even when he was fit earlier in the season, last few performances before his latest injury he just looked lethargic with no movement at all.

Unfortunately Utd just have no viable option apart from Rooney up top currently, and the unproven Wilson (who I think is injured currently anyway).

edit - for anyone being picky, Im talking about an option who is actually likely to score

lol.. that's the thing though he HAS been good and has got quite a few assists and goals, up until recently the tactic LVG was using has been found out. So we need to switch it up every now and then.

But that's the whole point, if the team cant even rely on him doing his job why is he even in the team / squad (was it vs Chelsea or AV where he missed a good header too (ended up being more of a back pass it was so soft)
