JeffyB, thank you very much for the pictures. I was 90% sold and they pushed me over the edge (In a good way of course)
Finalizing a new wheelset build for my N2A and can't decide on hub colour (worse problems to have..). Will be paired with black archetypes and black sapim spokes
black toe nails improve your power, or so I've heard.
think I may have more hair on my legs than I do on my head![]()
One of the jobs in work today.
Top one is the customer himself and the bottom is the boss.

I once took a Tektro R540 brake apart. These things are all the same design. I had a similar experience to you - it kept sticking. I ended up putting oil in the pivots and just not doing it nearly as tight as I could, and it's worked fine since.
Talking of dual pivot brakes... you should be able to grab ghe whole brake caliper and twist it where it meets the frame right? I mean, it shouldn't be locked solid in one position?
Good ride today but ended in total disaster for me.
I was about 5 - 10 m behind the group when going through Earlstown when all that rubbish got blown over the road. A black bin bag snagged in my rear derailleur ripping it straight off and locking the rear wheel. Before I had chance to shout they had all rounded the corner. Fortunately the hanger is perfectly intact, but the mech is totalled! One of the jockey wheels is shredded and the jockey wheel housing is snapped in numerous places.
Do I wear my hot pink jersey or tone it down with a black one?![]()
Is that your secret?
Same! I blame the stress of coming here.
Now I find myself looking for workstands, for giggles I checked my Wiggle discount area and I'm at £936.80 for the last year already (to be fair, £664 of that was the bike but still, not really sure what I spent the remaining £270 on!)
During the last 365 days you have spent: £2,351.90
I've just picked myself up a Park Tools "Home Mechanic" workstand (PCS9) from Halfords. About £75, which is decent considering the prices of others out there. Seems good and sturdy.
Got a shout on the way back from someone saying my rear wheel was rolling quite far to the right, so said I'd pull over and take a look, couldn't see anything and it is rolling relatively straight. Anyone had this before? Going to give the wheel and drop outs etc a good clean out.

Quick one, Finish Line lubes, I just got the Dry/Red and it's like water?! Did less than 10 miles on it yesterday and I could hear more chain noise??? The Dry/Green is much thicker, like glue consistency and lasts a week before getting more chain noise? I've got some Muc-off Dry lube too, it's thicker, white but equally only lasts 15/20 miles before chain is noisy again. Are dry lubes all that short lived?
Off work again today but the weather is pretty crappy.
Weather is arse at the moment, and looks like staying that way for a couple of weeks. I'm riding Liverpool to Sheffield tomorrow - 86 miles and my longest ride since July 2013 when I did an imperial century - and it looks like it's going to be "heavy showers" all the way. Joy. I'm gonna pick up an ass saver later today, as I'm buggered if I'm riding all that way with a wet bum.
No guards? Ouch![]()
I'd rather ride my guardless Planet X for that sort of distance than my TDF with guards. The Planet X is better geared and a bit lighter and the bars are way comfier.
If it was "heavy rain" I'd take the TDF, as I'd rather not have soaking wet feet, but for "heavy showers" it shouldn't be too bad.
cleaned and relubed my drivetrain yesterday, torrential rain this morning. Boom.
red is indeed thinner than green, hence the reason it's "dry" lube, lower consistency and less prone to holding dirt!I use green all year round and it does the job tbh!
on a different note, need some good/cheap degreaser for components, what do you guys recommend?
@Roady, the red lube is indeed like that. If there's even a spot of rain you'll need to re-lube. In perfectly dry conditions I'd re-lube once per week (though that would be whilst doing 200-300 miles per week).
@Grudas. I have this stuff. It's great stuff though I'm sure it was a lot cheaper when I bought it.

Went to order my replacement 105 5800 rear caliper and noticed it looks slightly different.
Quick check on the Giant site and they are listed as Tektro TK-R540's. Fairly sure mine are branded 105, not Tektro?!
More than happy to replace 1/both with the 105's but with the 'drop' listed as 49mm is that standard? My Defy 1 2015 has bad/low clearance already, so want to be sure they'll fit and not make things worse...!
who was that ordered this -; http://www.wiggle.co.uk/pro-lite-bracciano-a42-se-alloy-clincher-wheelset/
how are you finding it?
