Felt like a slightly cluttered episode, where they were determined to bring as many plot lines to the fore as possible, but still good. There was enough there to fill two episodes.

The "the dwarf lives until we find a **** merchant" line was cringe worthy, worst line in the whole show thus far.

The whole Sansa/Theon/Ramsey scene was edge of the seat/uncomfortable to watch, I was expecting at least one of them to die.

Found it hard to watch that last scene; was half expecting a knife to his throat (Sansa) and one to his Bolt-on (Reek).

Now that it's Tuesday, a quick question on etiquette here -

It seems discussion of 'the latest episode' is usually after the Monday 9pm repeat on Atlantic. I intentionally didn't discuss anything yesterday before that (I always record & watch the initial broadcast) as nobody else seemed to be. Is it the accepted standard that we should wait until after that 9pm showing?

Cheers all.

Good episode. I was convinced in that last scene Stannis would arrive sparking a siege and interrupt the 'consummation'.
Only thing I've been really disappointed with so far are the sand snakes. They come across as little brats. Not sure if miscast, poor writing/acting or just a mixture. Could have done with being introduced to them separately perhaps.

Got to love Bronn roll eyes and his 'for ***** sake'. Hope that slash he got doesn't do him in as those girls like their poisons...

Didn't anybody else find the whole bit with Bronn, Jamie and the girl fight all so contrived?

Bronn and Jamie don't see to struggle to find her at all, but also just at the same time the other bint sends her three girls out... and it all looked so clumsy and cheap while it was happening.

Just me?

edit:
Was first time I have been annoyed with the show.

I'd say yes, Everyone else is in this thread. Is there still a thread for the American times?

Just to be clear I wasn't referring to downloaded shows from the US.
I record the UK broadcast from Atlantic and then watch it before the 9pm showing.. cuz I can't wait until 9pm! :D

Only thing that bugged me about the scene was that despite their buildup as some supposedly super dangerous women, they struggled to fight, 3 against 2 , with 2 guys, one of which only has 1 hand and was effectively bested by a run of the mill footsoldier in the previous episode. Hardly made the sand snakes seem all that imposing at all. Bronn fought two of them at once , without breaking a sweat or even taking the fight seriously.

Both of these were really not great, it's a real shame that stuff like this can end up in the final version as they can get it so right other times.

i think that will happen at some point. if you notice hes really been struggling lately. think sooner or later hes going to snap at something.

Yup, it does look like it is going that way. When he gave Sansa away and said I am Theon Greyjoy he did so as Theon not as Feek saying Theon. Also I keep wondering if/when he will admit that he didn't actually kill Bran and Rickon.

Hmmm, maybe my memory of the rescue attempt by sister is not clear... but what was wrong with that?

Apart from the fact that she seemed to easily escape when it looked like her forces had been decimated.

I suppose if the scene had never happened it would have changed nothing, but with the way this show goes, it could be pertinent later down the line.

That last scene was the first I've actually felt uncomfortable watching, It also differs from the books I believe.

Sansa really has sod all luck.

warning book talk

well yes as Sansa isn't there in the books but is just hanging around at the Eyrie which might be a bit dull for TV, also need to keep the various story arcs closer together else people will get even more confused - given that we've got one poster in this thread on the past two pages who has had trouble following the series even after re-watching it it is probably sensible to have Sansa there than introducing a fake 'Arya'. It still gives Jon Snow a reason to want to head there. I'm guessing that instead of the washer women persuading Theon/Reek to rescue Sansa he might just do so off his own back after witnessing the way Ramsay treats her. I'm sure Brienne and Pod will play a part too.

tbh.. what happened in the books would arguably be more controversial - 'Reek' is forced to go down on her(fake Arya) first before Ramsay has his fun

everything he does is because Ramsay has told him to

he was Theon at the wedding because he was told to be Theon, if you notice he also tried to take her arm stating that Ramsay had told him to and that he would be punished

he was giving her away as he is the closest thing she has to a relative, there were other noble lords etc.. present, as soon as the wedding was over he is right back to being Reek in the end scene

there is another reason for him needing to be Theon rather than Reek in the book - (the below shouldn't spoil anything for the TV series but it is book talk so you have been warned)

in the book it isn't Sansa at Winterfell but another character, one of Sansa's friends who is introduced as Arya Stark... basically a fake 'Arya' so the Boltons can solidify their claim on the North... the real Arya is presumed by them to be dead and having Theon present, someone who grew up with Arya, to give her away helps with the scam so to speak - he is essentially vouching for her being 'Arya' and the other Northern Lords are then less likely to have any doubts

The TV show has obviously decided to not bother with that additional character and have Sansa marry him instead, either way the important point for the plot seems to be that Ramsay has now married one of the Stark girls
