Got Caught Speeding Last Night

OP - " I didnt know it was a 30 limit, and I had no idea I was going that sort of speed"

Magistrate - "So you were speeding and driving without due care and attention?"

I doubt that will go down well :P

I would admit it and take it on the chin, 50+ MPH through there when there is a pedestrian crossing half way down is a bit much!

Six points and a hefty fine.

Years ago I got caught doing 99 in a 60. Perfect visibility very little traffic and a NSL zone. I admitted fault when the NIP came through and opted to go to court when the summons arrived. I had an impact statement describing how a ban would affect family members and employees etc which was prepared by a member on pepipoo. Your impact statement needs to clearly show how the loss of your license would be detrimental to other people. The court doesn't care if you loose your job etc so think kids to school, grannies shopping and wife to work type things.

Good luck.

It's the retail park with a McDonalds which is the biggest hazard as every skiprat will be hooning it out of the carpark in their chavmobiles looking to impress their mates.

What was the outcome?

In court, just tell them you were clearing your pad deposits, I'm sure they'll understand.

I got six points SP30 and a £650 fine. The judge said he seriously considered a ban but the impact statement showed genuine hardship to others. I also put in that I was selling the car as I was unused to so much power which was a white lie but seemed to do the trick. I PX'd it for a M3, which to be fair was slower than my Skyline :-/

The problem for me is that losing my license would have little impact on my life as I have no kids, live in the town centre and can quite easily take the train to work (which I was planning to do anyway) :(
I will sign up to Pepipoo and get some further advice with regards to impact statements and representing myself in court.

They are a very good bunch, hold your hands up to it and be truthful with everything they ask. They have well tuned BS detectors and flame hard once riled up if memory serves.

good to know they check there. won't be flying down that road again :p
Me too! Wouldn't expect the police to be there really...

I'm worse though on the A33 from the IDR heading towards the M4 junction... That road at night with no traffic.....

I attended court today for 55 in a 30, and walked away with 6 points and a £652 fine including costs. I feel appearing in person over pleading guilty by post made no difference but that's just my opinion.

Everyone I spoke to who was there also got 6 points and a means tested fine.

Oh well, stings a bit and it's only money.

Expect the worst, hope for the best.

I drive through a 30 zone on the way to work and stick to the speed limit, the amount of people that come up behind me and tailgate is shocking. Most of the time it's mum's on the school run!

I was in court last year and the advice I was given was to turn up to plead guilty, suited and booted and write a good letter of apology. Don't make any excuses for what you did.

The judges gave me the absolute minimum points and fine I could be awarded which was a big surprise, probably something to do with the rest of the queue was full of tracksuit wearing chavs...

Rubbish, sorry to hear this. I don't know the road but must admit 30mph on any dual carriageway road at 11pm is going to feel unnecessarily slow. It feels stupidly slow on single carriage roads when you're the only car around!

Just got to hope the officer forgets to put in the traffic file! If it goes to court I'm guessing either a short ban or 6 points and a £600 fine.
