After buying two of these cards a few weeks back I've been reading about how they were flawed and against manufacturing standards ie. product description. Now is there any sort of buyback from the companies (manufacturers) for these cards? Do we have any right to complain and expect our money back? Or is what they are saying not really a problem? Thoughts anybody?

OcUK were offering refunds a while back, but that is over now. Nvidia won't give you back nothing unfortunately.

Pretty sure if you kick up a fuss you can get your money back from the retailer though. Shame Nvidia never changed how the card is advertised. Shameful really.

This problem has been a problem since launch. You should have researched before buying the cards

I understand what you are saying, but that fault is not to be blamed on the consumer. All the reviews out there are still the same as the release day as far as I know. How was he to know? Not everyone does lots of research before buying, you trust that the company selling the product is telling the truth.

It's been ages since the 970 scandal came and went, if when spending £400+ on two GPUs you can't do some googling then I don't really think you have a leg to stand on.

Do the GPUs perform like you wan them to?

I bought them because it was from advice I had from the forums. They were reported as being fantastic. I'm looking at moving into the larger monitors (hence buying them). I was looking at the Asus pathway but with all the issues they've been having I've held off. To be honest it wasn't until I started researching the monitors that I came across the issues with the 970 .. imagine my surprise !!!!! And (as I have been asked) what would I replace them with? 980's ??

Personally, I'd try arguing that the amount of time that's passed (As long as it's not silly) shouldn't have an impact on being able to get them replaced, the underlying "issue" (Since there's soooo many fanboys defending/attacking, I've no idea how the VRAM issue actually plays out..) is still there.

I'd go with a single 980ti but wait and see what amd bring to the table on the 16th.

If your not running 4K your upgrade/sidegrade won't be worth it. You can either sit with the cards until Pascal , sidegrade (if you sold the cards) to something like a GTX980Ti or pay more (SLI GTX980s/GTX980Tis for more performance).

hmmm I bought them from OCUK and I would by from them again ... I'm holding out for the new batch of (properly QC'ed) Asus Rog swifts .. two of them and say two 980Ti's ???

I have no idea if they will accept a return (that you will have to check with CS).

2x GTX980Tis should be roughly double the performance.

Enquire in Cs that's what they're there for. Only they can decide whether you can return them or not.

The thread on here about it few months back must have had 1000's of posts.

The 970 still is a fantastic card. Read the 970 Owners thread for more information and post some questions in there.
