S'funny, I've been to malaysia a fair few times and not managed to cheese off the locals.

Mind you, the place is extremely corrupt in favour of malays and bribes on top of punishments like canings and death being very real so it's worth your while to not do anything stupid.

A fine/bribe of 10 buffalos sounds a bit rustic but doesn't surprise me.

I would say it is a bit backwards labelling a whole country on the comments of one person. Doesn't surprise me people try to focus on what a minor official said and not the actual charges but not everyone can be intelligent so its understandable...
 
Tbf it really isn't much of a story, I think it's just getting so much attention because it's a pretty young girl who got naked getting her comeuppance. If it was a fat middle aged dude doing it no one would be bothered.

Seems we were both right (and wrong).

She was head girl at a private school, but she is 23 and just completed a degree in aeronautical engineering, so her money probably came from her placement year salary...

No, we have public indecency laws here. Nudity isn't ilegal but people complain because they get scared at naked people...
