Yeah, just make sure you get the comfort or race seat, both give you a bit of extra space over stock.
I also have the oversized screen on order as the stock one does nothing for me at all unless I lay with my chest on the filler cap.

I popped over to my local dealer last week to pick up a tank pad and had a chat with the salesman about the XR, 3 month waiting list already down this neck of the woods. He said 50% of people road tested it had put a deposit down.

It was outside waiting to go out on another road test, so I grabbed the pic of it, he said take a pew, see what you think.. I sat on it, thought 'oh my..' said to him "Sign me up for a roadtest" :D (<-- I actually looked like that)

I've never ridden an adventure style bike before, it's similar to my Street Triple, but a lot more upright, it'll be new territory. So used to sports bikes and their sadistic riding position.

I'll try and do a short vlog of it, or at least find somewhere to stick a GoPro on it!
 
Went for a ride, picked up some low beam H11 bulbs to match the LED running lights white colour as the stock is very orange and the 899 doesn't get full LED headlights.

Then used my new Swissvax Opaque cleaner and wax on the paint, very nice results but hard to get a picture of the silkiness of it.

After taking these pictures I fit a new plate with No More Nails red tape, looks really smart without screws, just hope it holds!

Still waiting on passenger seat cowl and oversized screen to come in, Italians :rolleyes: and still wish it had a single sided swingarm! :D

the two cans of monster i had in the back pack though where totalled like literally pealed/unravelled flat open

gonna be fun with the insurance, the lorry driver says he didn't see anything but hopefully his dash cam will have picked something up.

the van driver was pretty on my side saying how the guy cut across the lanes and took all my braking space.

and theres a traffic cctv camera on a sign about another 200 yards down the road that hopefully films that junction.

got details and witnesses and he pulled over, he's got a slightly dented bumper lol.


i'm sore but a slight graze and some soreness for a motorway off is a win in my book lol

i can just see insurance being a nightmare.
 
Glad you're OK Tefal. Reading your description of the event was like deja vu for me. I had a spill in nearly identical circumstances about 10 years ago. Only difference was that the driver that took me out drove off.

can still see that truck coming and feeling half of me saying "ugh it hurts just lie here for a minute" and the other half screaming "crawl get up move now"

this really isn't doing my immortality complex any good though :p
 
Glad you are ok mate, thats the main thing.
I had the exact same thing but in the car luckily, he crossed all 3 lanes into the side of my bumper, again it was a the end of the motorway coming to a roundabout so I had nowhere to brake or go, he admitted liability luckily, with the van driver as a witness it should be enough to go in your favour if the driver is being an idiot about it.


That 899 is looking sexual ^JP^ !! :D

He was acting all innocent at the scene going "oh well I braked gently to give you a chance etc" so he's not gonna accept liability.

But there's no way you can safely join a rush hour motorway (16:30pm) make it to the outside lane in 200 yards. When traffic is slowing for the people merging further down
 
try and get some statements off of the witnesses if you have their details,that and some cctv footage should see you alright
