Audi owners in here!

Booked my S1 in for some mechanical repairs today. Audi Slough gave me 14 July as their first available date! Settled on 30 June at West London Audi.

I've never waited 3 weeks for repairs with my VWs and BMWs :(

Thank buddy.

I have been driving around in a 2015 A3 1.4 TFSI Ultra for the past 2 weeks and they said keep it for the duration of the work.

It's quite nippy but prefer my baby back, it hugs the road better

Nice one mate, hope it gets sorted swiftly !

Possible knock on from the oil consumption issues and slots being reserved?

..and they've packed up again. What's normally the cause of failure for these things?
I had the short beep this morning, directly followed by the long one to show a failure.

It's really weird, as all 4 sensors worked on Saturday

No dirt/mud getting up behind the bumper that could be creating a short? Or just a loose wire possibly?

I know simple but usually these things are the simpest things to repair!

Any chance of water ingress on any of the sensors?

Never happened to any of my Audis but did happen to my 330d. They just simply weren't sealed any more, needed new sensors.

Hi Guys,

Was changing the wheel over from spare to alloy after getting my wheel re-sealed (corrosion causing the tyre to go down).

Noticed the shock was leaking slightly, not checked the others but can imagine them being the original ones so havnt done too bad after 100k miles and 9 years.

Just wondering, what aftermarket kits could I possibly look at to maybe improve the ride quality?

Don't want to spend £££ but looking at it as an option.

Thanks

I suspect it's the water ingress. I was just surprised that they sprang into life after 6 months. Not so surprised they stopped again the day after :o

I don't really give a **** any more though as I'm not spending any more on it. It's going up for sale in a few weeks.

Following on from an earlier post, I'm going to look at a few cars in the coming weeks. I don't really want auto anything so really manual only cars. I've considered a B7 RS4 and will hopefully get my hands on one next week, if only for a short time.

But, I'm still looking at newer Audis for similar money to the RS4 and I really like these

Particularly exactly like that. I like the colour, its got lots of toys, its manual. Although it looks A) massive compared to my B7 A4 and B) with all that weight for a 2.0 to haul around it makes me wonder if it'll be a bit underwhelming. My B7 isn't "proper fast" but it's not slow either.

Yea, must be really hard to decide whether you want a 4 cylinder diesel or a 420bhp V8.

Perhaps what you need to do first is decide what your apetite for running costs is and how important each level of performance is and THEN decide what to buy, because currently I cannot understand why anyone genuinely in the market for an RS4 would do anything but scoff at a 2.0 TDI as an alternative and why anyone who wanted a 2.0 TDI would even consider an RS4.

Frankly if you can handle the expense of an RS4 and you want that sort of a car, buy one, a 2.0 TDI A6 with a manual gearbox is a tedious thing to drive, there is zero pleasure to be gained from stirring a manual box on an engine like that.

Perhaps a half-way option would be better - something less horrible and nasty as a 2.0 TDI but not quite as compromised and extreme as an RS4?

What about a B8 S4?

What Fox said. There is no correlation between a 4.2 V8 and a 2.0 TDI. They are for completely different markets.

Again, as he said, how about an B8 S4 as a compromise? There is one for sale near me, in avant form, with 44k on it, for around the £18k mark. So in the same region. A remap takes them close to RS4 performance, with newer tech inside than the B7.

That's pretty much what I'm trying to weigh up. Whether it's worth it, to me, to take on the running costs. I just thought the newer car would be better value for money. I need to decide if I can be bothered with the trappings of running a performance car day to day. I've even considered keeping the B7 and getting a an old Impreza to play with and scratch the performance car itch but don't have the time to run two cars. Tried it before and just never really used the 2nd car.

If you have a "performance car itch", as you put it, I think you'd really regret going for the diesel. The RS4 is stupidly fast, but it also has normal practical things like a boot, and back seats. You know, it can still be used as an everyday car for driving to work and doing your shopping. And then it can also be used for some weekend hoonery.

Yeah, it'll cost more to run, but I think if you go for the slower cheaper car, you'll always be resenting it for not being an RS4. Not that the diesel would be a bad car, it's just that in comparison to the RS4, it'll be dull as dishwater.

That's just my thought, and what I'd choose. I don't know what your finances are like, so at the end of the day, only you can decide what's best for you.

If you have the itch for an RS4 and can afford it then go for it. They have held theyre value very well and if after a few months you want/need to get rid of it then it will have most likely not have lost as much as the A6.

One is **** one isn't. Question is do you want a **** car or a good one. Live a little.
