How old are you and how often do you see your parents?

I see my parents every Sunday when we have a family dinner (take my kids along) and see them 1-3 other times a week dependent about what is going on.

I think it's really tragic that some see their folks just a few times a year...

I see my folks nearly every day...both mum and dad are really cool...huge laugh I love em to bits...

Guess I'm lucky...saw them less when I was at uni and working in Liverpool and Manchester...but a fortnight didn't go by without them popping over etc...it's a 2 hr drive so no biggy...just effort...

Moved back to the coast and they are a huge part of my life...

Used to see my dad maybe every 2-3 months but since having children of our own it is more frequent, probably around 1-2 times a month.

This.

Me 55.

When I got my own place many years ago one of my main priorities was that I should remain within walking distance so I have a home in the same village.

(As you should!)

As a matter of policy, I park my work vehicle (I am self employed) at my Mums (My Dad died some years ago) so I see her twice a day.

Haven't seen either of my parents in 30 years and don't intend seeing them again anytime soon!
I'm 65 and they both died in the early 1980s ;)

Mine are dead now but when they were alive I used to try and see them once a week. See them as much as you can because on day you might regret not having done so.

Yep, my mum died when I was 29,my younger brother a year after. I'd do anything to see them again.

Don't waste time and potential memories.

25... try and go see them once a year at the very most.. they plan to come see me in 2017. I am however staying in the UK and my parents and rest of family are back home in Cyprus.

Turn 40 in a couple of weeks. I try to see them at least once a week work allowing . They only live 5 mins away so it's normally more than that.

32. I'm lucky if I see them once a year.

They live in NI, I live in England. Too busy, and with too many other commitments during the year to get the time to visit.

So it's maybe once every 2/3 years.

Should call on the phone more than I do... they probably hear from me every month or so -- but it's all good. My dad's cool as a cucumber, and when I do call it's only ever for a few minutes as he'd rather just get on with whatever he's doing or watching than rabbiting on with small talk. Same ****, different day.

We're exactly alike, so there's no resentment in it whatsoever.

Hell, when we do actually get over to visit it's just like nothing's happened, despite the fact we haven't seen each other in 3 years. Might as well have sat there yesterday! Just how I like it.

That is awful!

I feel for you.

Really :( :( :(

Appreciated. It has been a really rough time and after three years since brother dying we have finally had the inquest just last week because the case about his accident at work was so technical. I watched him die from his injuries (explosion) at his bedside.

This has all been compounded by the fact that mum had more children later in life, I have a further half brother and sister who were 6 and 7 yrs respectively when mum died. Telling them about the deaths was probably the worst.

Going off topic there but it's just me chipping in my 2p as to why it's easy to take people you love for granted but they can be snatched away in an instance. Mum was young, we would often socialise together, shop, dine and generally share life as good friends also. Looking back I'm so glad we did that and that I didn't regard seeing her as a chore because I think I'd feel awful now if I had.

We all owe our parents our time, that is assuming they have been good parents and good people. I appreciate some people have different lives.

I'm 28 and see them about 3-5 times a year but it depends really as I live in Aberdeen and they are in Berkshire. Speak to them multiple times a week though :).

I'm 23 and since moving to Edinburgh will see them for a few days every couple of months. In constant communication via Email, Facebook and FaceTime etc though.

Almost 50 years old and see my mother, my sister and her kids 3-5 times a year for birthdays and holidays.

Call my mum every couple of weeks, to catch up. We only live about 50 miles apart, but we all have busy lives and have to plan weeks in advance to get everyone together.

You can't be that busy...you're posting on here ....

61, and have not seen either of them for 30+ years. No idea if my father is even alive. I think my mother is but we never ever got on and I am unlikely to shed a tear if she is not.

Wow, makes me appreciate my wonderful mum and dad even more. Wish they were still around.

40, my parents are divorced, and I see them at least once a month or two months, and speak to them at least once a week or fortnight.
