I don't believe the church is being forced to marry gay people or at least not in the UK. It's up to the religious organisation if they wish to opt in to allowing gay marriage on their premises (Government guidance PDF) so no need to worry on that score.

I dont have issues with gay people getting married or being gay. However the historical context for having gay pride days/parades etc is to make a show of solidarity amongst a group that has suffered prejudice in the recent (or not so recent) past. I think you might struggle to show that as a straight person you have suffered from the same societal prejudices just because of your sexuality.

That argument can be applied to the other examples I listed.

Unfortunately the majority of people who are in favour of the redefinition of marriage refuse to discuss the subject rationally or objectively.

You (and Tosno) both picked incest for discussing in parallel with homosexual marriage - if you didn't actually mean that you thought they were in some way similar then maybe it's not particularly good as a comparison point.

Wasn't sure if I should put this in this thread or the ISIS thread, either way shows how ridiculous we all know CNN to be.

It sounds like some journalist who is desperate to make a big name for herself spotted a Tweet apparently showing an ISIS flag at Pride yesterday. She Tweeted back where the flag was seen, located it and made this report.

She has since said on Twitter she made no such claim/report and is been ridiculed across social media. She even tries to make out she came across the flag "after leaving work". Numpty.

FundaMENTALists of any religion seem to discourage religion in the majority of moderates who might consider a faith at some point.
Strange how with education comes less belief, and the religions in the world which currently prosper and grow (the two that grow) seem to do so off the back of banning education for half their members, and encouraging the other half to make sure they keep their women in check (and covered).

Hopefully they will educate, school, and then feed and vaccinate Africa before the entire continent is converted.

Christians do get persecuted on here, on a regular basis. Normally by YouTube experts on Christianity.
