Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

Should have had the Rainsports over those Falkens, they're the lesser variant of the FK452/453's. Hope it turns out to be a good motor for you :) I decided to get Rainsport 3's on my Focus and the way they cope over the Falken's is impressive, and they weren't bad!

Have get some good pics of your new one up soon :)
 
Ahh well, I was going by reviews online and the Falkens got higher ratings.

Will get pics up once I've sorted a few bits. :)

Doesn't really matter but ideally the thinner the better, less chance of getting crud build up between the air gaps.

Apply strips in a zig zag fashion for best adhesion :cool:

On the subject of the tyres, there are two Goodyears on the back, one which is a normal tyre, one which is a runflat, on the front there is a budget tyre on one side and a winter tyre on the other side, they are all the wrong size, and they have multiple different speed ratings, none of which are the correct one! :p

New tyres already ordered. :rolleyes:

Fixed the seat today with a bit of help from Dad! Made a new seat pin for it. :)

And cleaned the pollen filter so that the A/C works better until the new one arrives. The A/C works like a dream now! :)

Filled it up with Momentum 99 as well. :) I have been averaging about 25MPG because of my occasional spirited bursts... :o

Another query I have for those of you who have previously owned these - is there any way to display the MPG if I remove the original radio? Perhaps a bluetooth OBD thingy and an app on a head-unit?

Can you also buy converters which will allow at least the steering wheel volume controls to work? :)
 
I don't know about Toyota but with some cars you would need a canbus decoder box to enable you to use steering wheel controls etc. If you get a Toyota specific Android head unit it will likely work with the steering controls, not sure about displaying MPG though.
 
Check incartec.co.uk for all the fitting and adapters

Get a wifi or Bluetooth obd reader from eBay for a fiver and the relevant app for your phone. Bluetooth reader with torque for android, wifi reader for iOS (various apps)

Torque will show mpg and a crapton of other data - you can plot colour coded mpg onto a map, look at acceleration figures, view all of the engines sensors, boost pressure (awwww you don't have a turbo :() and the like. In theory you could run this on an android head unit although I couldn't get it to work with the Chinese one I bought and subsequently returned

Lets just say that I have been really enjoying it after so long in the Slowlo. On every little straight stretch I can't help but give it a short little burst. Plus I have been out for drives with a couple of people, so there have been some acceleration bursts for their benefit. :)

I went for a mixed B road/A road drive earlier (about 25 miles) and averaged 32MPG though. :)

The economy improved after I balanced out the tyre pressures. I'm hoping it will improve again when I have some decent matched tyres fitted.

lol it should do, I was never easy on mine, and did mostly short runs around town. But didn't manage that low lol!

One of the good things about the 2zz is its decent fuel economy, my clio rs is awful by comparison, I am averaging around 27mpg no matter what I do. and its not as fast in a straight line as the corolla was.

I wonder does the facelift have the same hot air blower, it takes hot air from around the exhuast manifold and pumps it into the air intake system, its to do with emissions, i removed it and it made no difference to MOT's etc.

With the exception of the Parrot asteroid, I'm not aware of any android head units which aren't nasty Chinese tat. That does look especially horrible because it gets blessed with Toyota inspired styling which is pretty nasty to start with. The one you posted before will be equally nasty but at least that one would fit the dash a bit better.

That said, for 200 quid for a navigation head unit, if you can coax them into doing what you like then they seem like a good idea for some cases - just don't expect high quality and seamless integration... Or boot times of less than a minute!

Exactly what the one in my E39 had and it was absolutely excellent for the task - being a dedicated Satnav/Radio not a pointless over specified gimmicky toy.

Once the novelty of having Android and 400,000 pointless apps on your dashboard wears off you'll just want radio, music and Satnav that just 'works'.
