ebay help

Stop winding OP up about parcel insurance. If he forked out more cash for insurance he would be more out of pocket now. Courier would refuse responsibility claiming the parcel was accepted without recipient notifying carrier of any external damage to the packaging, long battle would ensue, all relying on recipient being fully involved, which she's clearly not going to be. If he posted with Parcel2Go the best outcome would be no money but just a long collection of round-and-round-we-go template emails. If he posted Royal Mail the best outcome would be £50-£100 worth of 1st class postage stamps (legal tender) which he could then sell on ebay for less than they're worth along with several thousands of people like him.

Lesson number one - take pictures of your item right before shipping, lesson two - always write down serial numbers. If you can't sell the item via Members Market, eBay is your only option, and eBay at the moment has about 10-15% scam/rental/just-wanted-to-try rate for high value items.

Do you have any pictures or paperwork that might have the serial number on it? Did you register the card with the manufacture?

The Ebay wasp stings again!

Screw Ebay they still on my case for someone I refunded in November last year. I paid him back and so did Ebay. They chasing me for the money.

Told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. ;)

Most likely the buyers own PS3 died and thought il pull a little scam here and send the defective back to the seller..happens all the time now on Ebay,This is why i wont sell anything on the bay no more..too many scammers.

Would I have to refund £260 and still pay the ebay and paypal fee?
Also, If I do go Blackburn and go to the address, what am I meant to do? Bottle them? O_o

Prepare to get shafted OP. I'd remove all my card/bank details from paypal and just refuse to pay unless you get the item back in working condition. Don't let ebay force you to refund the buyer, if they refund the buyer then ebay can pay for that.

Lol, you can't prevent them from taking your money by logging in and unlinking your card. They already have those details and there are certain terms you agree to when you sign up. You could end up in a much worse situation by trying to win one over on PayPal.

OP will probably have to refund the money and chalk it up as a lesson learned... If it's actually his ps4 he gets back then it's a lesson in the risk of distance selling and the importance of insurance. If it's a different ps4 then it's a lesson in keeping records of things like serial numbers

What's all this about taking serial numbers, marking goods

The buyer would simply have to say prove that was the item you posted.
Unless you had a film crew constantly filming you from packing through to the courier collecting/handing to them, how could you prove that?

Sure you could bluff them regarding serials and the like that's about it.

Only use Gumtree and Pre-loved these days.

I also think this is why sellers are doing collection only these days. It means that the buyer has to either pick it up or arrange the courier. Harder to claim damage retrospectively - but then ebay probably dont give a toss about this either.

I always photograph items, mark it secretly so I know it is mine, and photograph the packaging.

Ideally them picking up a working item is best and sell as 'spares and repair' no returns even though it is working.

OP, ignore this. Iaind, please don't spread misinformation when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Source please?

I mean, I could show you the small claims court paperwork from a few years ago when I thought I was being as clever as you, and tried the same trick?

Clearly though, I don't know what I'm talking about :p
