Dashcams!

how do you tell your mini 0806 to keep recording when the memory card is full ? I've just updated to latest firmware and I still cant see it ?

I think it's called recycle on mine. You can record in 1, 2, 3 and 5 minute intervals that will auto delete when the card gets full.

mine was set to 3 and it stopped recording

I downloaded the manual and checked the HUD screen, and I didn't have the "recycle" picture, so I then changed it to "1" and it appeared, so im hoping now it works

Check out this amazing footage of someone leaving the scene of an accident, caught on Dashcam in the reflection of the boot! Some proper CSI enhancement going on :D

The impacted vehicle belonged to the maintenance man and knows the driver, so was able to track them down to get insurance info

Is the 0806 really that much better than the 0805 considering they've got the same resolution etc and the £17 price difference?

Having had both, the 0806 locks GPS faster so the first 10 or so seconds are not GPS-less, the bitrate is higher so the picture is sharper and the lens optics are better so edge to edge is sharper. Also the audio is stereo and higher bitrate.

CPL?

I can only see the 0806 without GPS on Amazon as well. And I don't think I'd really need GPS anyway (I was looking at the 0805 without which is even cheaper).

also better cooler and you can add a polarising filter too

Me too. I've had them before with the large screens and they are noticeable - also passengers were forever asking what it was.

I've just ordered 2 x Mobius cameras - for the front and rear. I like this camera as it's tiny (match box size) and there are loads of different lenses and modifications you can do. One mod is to wire in an extended lens so that you can totally hide the camera box somewhere and leave just the lens (literally the size of a small fingernail). I might do that and hardwire both of them in, they'll almost be undetectable. Another benefit is the 120 minute battery time so you can leave it running for a while after turning the ignition off.

I love my gadgets. :)

Just looked at the Mobius specs and it only mentions battery life of around 1 hour. Which I can imagine being a right PITA to remember to keep charging.

What are peoples recommendations these days?

My typical requirements:
- Can be plugged into the car, would prefer it to only record when ignition is active rather than running 24/7.
- No LCD display, needs to be nicely hidden
- Don't require GPS tracking
- Don't require audio recording either

The battery life on most of them are dire as they rely primarily on being plugged in to operate, so not really an issue if you only want it to record when the car is on.

If you find your 0805 and 0806 are not recycling clips even when set make sure you set the g sensor to its minimum because it auto locks the clips from even the tiniest bumps otherwise and won't recycle over them. You can unlock those files using registration viewer or just format the card.

Just watched another vid where the dashcam will likely pay for itself. Some chap going around a grass roundabout which is being mowed. The mower spits out a stone which scratches the car.

The chap has emailed the vid to the council to get reimbursed for the repair cost.

I would link it, but he's not happy when he hears the stone hit.

I've just bought and installed an 0805 and watched back some of the footage from today, it is very fuzzy and soft at 2560x1080 30FPS.

Any suggestions?

Can upload footage if it will help.

Just about to pull the trigger on the K1S dual setup, however as we are going away in a few weeks, I think I shall leave it until I return.

CLICKY

Then I shall be putting my Nextbase one on the bay I think, or maybe fit it into the father in laws motor.

thanks for that, will check the g sensor

hmmm, is it showing a lot of your dash ? might be set too low
if that doesent cure it, then it might be a bad batch of poor focus

I have this dashcam. The cables are very short. To get the rear camera pointing correctly required using the extreme end of its movement on the mount. The unit itself gets quite hot.

I have this cam as well and the cables were plenty long for me, then again it's in a smaller sporty car and the rear cable runs straight from the middle of the read windscreen, along the roof lining to the passenger door, along the top of the seal of the passenger door, down the passenger pillar and into the rear of the glove box where the control unit is, plenty of spare cable.

I do hope they upgrade the mic for the next version though is it does seem lacking compared to some of the others.
