is it just me or the whole thing about becoming "demon" pretty stupid? It's pretty annoying that it's a permanent effect being covered by blood and the massive horn even with high heroism just for killing people.

I'm only half way through and I'm doing all side missions and it's kinda ruining the experience imo

Does taking a shower not help?
 
How this got 10/10 is beyond me, I struggled to like the game after 2 missions and I'm still struggling after 10, do I give it more time?
I'm basically trying to hang on to see if having Quite helps the excitement any.
Every mission is pretty much the same, clearing out bases pointless, clearing out outposts pointless - you go back for a different mission and every-one's re-spawned again it's worst than Farcry 2. Bored of playing the same pale yellow coloured map, graphics are dull no wonder the game runs so well there's nothing to process.
All guns blazing works better than stealth and it's meant to be a stealth game, the weapon I've spent 90% of the time using is the silly little silenced ZZZ pistol there's little point in using anything else. This is going to get uninstalled very soon and I'm going to try mad max.

Think it's game over man game over.

As much as I love Mad Max, that is significantly more grindy than this game honestly.

As for you hating the map, you if you push to mission
12/13 I think it is
you unlock the next area which is a nice change of scenery and plays a bit differently as it's not as mountainous.

If you're bored of your current playstyle why don't you change it up a little bit. Maybe try using Riot SMG and Riot shield maybe for a bit different. Then unlock a sniper rifle, use that for a bit. Then maybe grenade launcher/rockets only or drop in a tank to use. Might not work for you but I had a blast when I changed it up like that.

Or you could just rush the main storyline and ignore the side ops. Side ops is where the grind enters imo when you're hitting the same areas over and over. The main storyline offers a lot more variety I've found.
 
also the begining is tedious because none of the baddies are hard. later ont hey get NVGs, helmest, armour, vehicles and such which rises the challenge of both run/gun and stealth.

Play it how you want to, don't try hard to do it the "Best" way.
 
I think they messed up with the fulton system, it's way easier to fulton an entire base when you're doing the missions/ops in the larger bases as tranqs and strangulation only KO soldiers for what seems to be 5 minutes at the most, then they wake up and alert the base. I was hoping there would be a research upgrade for the tranq pistol to KO enemies longer or a bionic arm that chokes them out for longer but nope. Seems you either fulton or avoid them, it's a lot easier to avoid enemies then to take them on but it's a damn shame you only really have a choice to kill/fulton a lot of the time...

Amount of rubbish E/D/C ranked staff I have sitting in the waiting room is incredible. :D

I did the first Africa mission and was amazed to find out...

Extracting the 4 child soldiers is actually an objective, I did it for the lols but there isn't a feasible mechanic in the mission that lets you extract them easily! You can't fulton them as it would kill them, so I took everyone out and tranq'd all 4 of them and carried them one by one to the helicopter 400m away, and found myself chasing a few of em down as they woke up, I thought I was breaking the game as they are programmed to wonder out of the map but nope, it's an objective! Crazy really, as you literally have to carry all 4 of them to the chopper while topping up their ZZZ status with tranq rounds, seems really obtuse
 
Yeah the guards waking up too quickly is a pain. Could maybe be modded though, and if it can I imagine someone will. I know they could do a bit with Ground Zeroes. As it is, it is far more convenient to just fulton everything you see, which isn't really in the spirit of it imo if you know what I mean.
 
Weapons that stun are better if you're having problems with that, STN lasts much longer than ZZZ so try something like the riot shotgun or SMG as they both stun.

Tell you what though, if you're having trouble clearing bases non lethal, rush straight to the gunsmith sideops which trigger after mission 10/11 I think it is. Once you get that you can customise weapons which allows you to put a supressor on the tranq sniper. that means you have 2 suppressor non lethal weapons to work with and you can be much faster without having to worry about durability. I thought it would make the game more boring but it's been the opposite for me.

Screws with immersion too as the scream they make when they get sent off into the air would alert everything but nope, their comrades are as oblivious as anything. :D

Upgradable tranqs/CQC would be a great mod.

I'm not having troubles doing it, been using the Wu pistol for the whole game and think I've only triggered reflex 2 or 3 times the whole time, it's just crap how if you don't fulton a KO'd person they get up soooo quickly. Also, AFAIK choking out an enemy has the longest KO period of anything in the game and it's still only 5 or so minutes. Do have that gunsmith quest though, gonna go check that out. :D

Yes I have just unlocked the cover me function and it's stupidly powerful, even with her original sniper rifle.

Yeah this ability is crazy. I thought it meant I would get cover fire if I got detected. Really means "No holds bar". Was always wondering why when I sent her ahead to posts / bases to scout without knowing I left that ability on, by the time I got there everyone was zzzzzzzz. Good time to extract the best soldiers :p
 
If you are having problems with guards waking up, kick them out of stun or sleep and hold them up.

They will assume a neutralised position that will not stop until they are discovered by others or a full combat status is in effect.

50,000 demon points to get that state... Looking at the guide you would have to do some seriously messed up stuff to get that much, have you been raping and setting fire to extremely rare Afghani pandas? :eek:

I really want to like this game as this sorta thing is normally right up my street.

How the hell does the end scoring system work, run and gun seems to get you a poor score due to being seen so many times, once have I had rank "S". What do I need to do to rank high?

Speed more than anything.

For instance, one of the early missions (3 or 4?) tasks you with killing a Spetznaz commander. You can deploy, snipe him from a distance and escape within a few minutes for an easy 'S' rank.

Taking hits will reduce your score quite a lot. Doing bonus objectives helps the overall score, but often the time it takes to do the extra bits isn't worth it with the time penalty.
