Shaving is for ladies armpits...

Morning folks, thought I'd come in with a bit of a recommendation. I recently went on a juant to Paris with the good lady. Whilst there she decided she wanted to try and track down a cosmetics shop, she got some of their face cream through a subscription box and wanted to stock up.

Not being one to spend mass ammounts of money on "products", I decided to buck the trend and treat myself to some after shave balm. I've got to say it's brilliant, probably the best stuff I've used from a preventing irritation point of view. I'm not a great fan of the smell to be honest but it's still pretty cracking stuff.

The company is called Huygens if you want to give it a pop.

Bought myself one of the kits last week with the cream, boar brush etc and DE89L and not overly impressed with the razor, so much so that i've went back to using a Mach 3 for normal daily shaves. 2 passes with the DE89L, one with and one against the grain, does give a smooth shave but my problem is that it's visually no different than a single pass with the mach 3 mostly going with the grain with a couple of parts going across it side ways. Seems more like something i would use on a date night than every morning :/

I do like using the brush and cream instead of shaving foam/gel now though.

What are Lord platinum blades like? I mainly use Gillette 7s, & Wilkinson Sword.

Chose them as my free gift at Shaving Shack

I have sneakily discovered that the missus is buying me a silver tip badger brush for Christmas this year, along with the haul she got me for our anniversary (pics a few pages back) I think she's learning.

Does anybody make their own shave oil? I've acquired a cool looking crystal bottle that I fancy filling with oil. Anybody tried coconut oil as a base? Bit concerned as it is solid in it's normal form so not sure how I could get it to work.

Even though my Merkur is way more cost-effective, I cannot deny that the Fusion Pro and King of Shaves gel I bought to keep at the gf's did a smoother shave, in less time, with not a single knick (not that I get many with my Merkur, but I do need to be more careful) this weekend.

I was having a browse through the MAN section in Tesco at the weekend and was totally aghast at how much Gillette are charging for their blades now. £26 for eight Fusion Pro cartridges? I mean... Wow. Compare that to my recent safety razor resupply, where I spent under a tenner and got 100 Derby blades and two soap sticks, then add in the fact that those will last me for at least six months and, well... It's a total no-brainer!

It was gillette prices in tescos that ultimately made me switch a few years back. I think it was £10 for x3 mach 3s or something. Silly prices for fisher price looking rubbish.

The thing is, I earn enough to be able to take the ease & speed over the cost-saving, which really goes against my super savvy nature (I topcashback, use discounted gift-cards for groceries, and generally hunt for the best deal before buying anything).

It was just SO much less faff with the Fusion Pro :p

PS. I hate shaving, if I could laser off all my facial hair to never have to shave again I totally would.

My mate had his top lip hair lasered off , he always looked like it had a five oclock shadow even after a close shave.
Looks quite funny now if he doesnt shave for a couple of days.
