RIP MSI GTX 970

I dont trust AiO units any more due to the pumps being a bit too weak and unreliable for my liking. The lack of a fill port means you are forced to use their ethylene glycol sludge mix over any of your own coolant, which obviously would be non conductive for a while if you got to pick the liquid.

My custom cooling has 5 blocks in a single loop and is run by two pumps in case one fails. It contains distilled water/coolant mix and i have even spilt a small puddle on my GPU when filling, without effect. I didn't notice until i uploaded the pictures on my build log (using the same PC hours later).

As others have said, Corsair is who you need to get in touch with, though i am not sure how much they will do.

Corsair Customer Service

Filled and send receipts, pictures and a video clip.

Hopefully OCUK receipt with no price mentioned on it will be good enough so I also send screenshot proof of GTX 970 price from past order in my account. In old OCUK site showed my address in order but the new look OCUK didn't showed my address in order. The new site is very nice but it still need improvements like add invoices in accounts etc and also dispatched receipts needed to showed prices.

Will wait and see in next day or 2 to find out about damage claim. Corsair now has RMA base in Bolton, UK opened months ago. Hope my RMA will go to Bolton using cheaper tracked delivery rather than sent to Netherlands on very expensive tracked delivery.

Once Corsair paid me full damage then I will get MSI GTX 970 again and will order EK FC GTX 970 TF5/TFX backplate to stop future leaks and hope Corsair will sent me Hydro H80i I think it great to use link software monitoring pumping status.

Got email from Corsair Damage Claim they send me invoice and UPS prepaid shipping address to Corsair in California.

Will packaging both cooler and graphic card soon.

Found this link with same situation a guy with GTX 680 done damage claim and Corsair send him $500 refund check for GTX 680. Said Corsair reimbursed full MSRP price for graphic cards on 98% of cases. :)

Here is the final disposition email from Corsair, I have cut and pasted the email content here for you all to read:

Our Engineering Team already tested the CWCH100 and according to the result, our cooler caused the damage to your system.
As compensation, we will go ahead and replace your CWCH100 with a brand new CW-9060009-WW (H100I).
For your Graphics Card, we will reimburse you for $500.00.
As for the LSI Card, according to our Engineering Team, they didn’t find anything wrong with this component and it works fine. We will go ahead and ship this unit back to you.
All refunds will be issued in a form of check (Refund Check). Please confirm if you agree with the compensation mentioned above.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for choosing Corsair and have a great day!

Thanks good to know.

I know its rare but that's one of my fears of watercooling hence why I have never tried it.

Hey

I'm thinking about an AIO and came across this thread - sorry to hear about your graphics card OP, hope you get it replaced!

Could someone please explain why a pump failure causes the AIO to leak? Shouldn't it just stop the liquid flowing around the circuit, then the computer should automatically turn off because no signal is detected on the fan header and/or the overheat protection kicks in?

What exactly causes the leaking?

Cheers,

Su

As I don't tend to bother overclocking anything these days, air works well for me.

I did have a watercooling solution once, but changing components was a pain, and the noise of the fans on the radiator was about the same as the air coolers anyway.

Not going to rush to get any kind of watercooling solution personally, happy with decent air coolers :)

Im currently using an H80i I have been looking at getting a newer one and upgrading to a bigger rad

Ive like the look of the Fractal Design Kelvin S24 at the moment.

I had a refurbed H100 from OCUK a year or two ago that lasted about a year before the pump stopped pumping, During that time I found it to be a loud cooler that was not great at cooling

Sorry to detract from the OP but I am in this scenario at the moment; refurb H110 that I've suddenly realised is extremely loud after changing case fans to NF-F12s... Are any of the newer Corsair AIO models any better?

Corsair have said I can RMA the current one which is nice, just need to get myself a replacement before sending it off. Not a fan of how air coolers look either

My only problem is I have corsair vengeance so Im looking for a good air cooler that will fit over the top off that.
Noctua maintain extensive compatibility lists for all of their coolers on their site, noting if the heatsink will block any slots and the maximum RAM height that can be used if it does overhang.

The NH-D15 is the mother of all air coolers. Rather pricy though. I have the smaller NH-U14S myself.
